Because my clinging to the objectless is a delusion. It is not that the essence is the same relative to one object, because the objects of conception and non-conception are different. It is also not that the essence is different relative to different objects, for if inference and direct perception alone were different in essence, it would follow that self-awareness is different, and therefore not knowledge. Second, therefore, the essence of the two minds is the same, because inference itself possesses the same essence as direct perception. The essence is different relative to each object, because the inference that realizes that there is fire on the mountain is direct perception for the fire on the mountain in the essence of inference itself. This prevents self-awareness from being objectless. Third, if the two are different relative to the object, then it would follow that inference is not known from the object, because it is not self-awareness. Relative to the object-possessor, it is the same as self-awareness. If it is only the same as general direct perception, then because it is different from sense direct perception, it will become different from general direct perception, so from the two faults of arguing in this way, the first is freed, and it is different relative to the object. The meaning is that any mind that has become the object of inference and the object that has become the object of direct perception are said to be contradictory, and inference is not the opposite of the object that appears in the face of inference conception, because it is the mind that conceives of the object. Even if it is different from the particular sense direct perception, because it is the same as self-awareness, it is also freed from the second fault of arguing, it does not become different from just wood because it is different from sandalwood, how can it be compared to the one who thinks that it is the same as just wood because it is the same as shapa? This shows that shapa and wood are the same substance. Third, the number is certain: because the measurable is determined to be only two in number, the measure that measures it is also determined to be only two. Those who want less than two, such as thinking that there is only one inference, and those who want more than two, such as thinking that there are three, four, five, etc., are all because the seven-part reason says that it prevents the measure from having other numbers, and the other numbers from having measures. Fourth, the meaning of words: Generally speaking, the explanation of names is divided into two types, one is the name with reason, such as omniscient, etc., and the other is the name with application reason, such as trees, etc. For these two names, there are three types of distinctions: explanation and application are contradictory, non-contradictory, and both contradictory and non-contradictory. The first is: sparrow drinks oil or birds

Shepherdesses, and so on. The second is, omniscient ones, discriminating consciousness, and so on. The third is the three cases of contradiction, like the word "ocean-born." Its usage refers to the lotus, and it is explained as being born from the ocean, hence ocean-born. There are also three cases: the lotus born from the ocean is the first case; the lotus born from dry land is the second case; the creature born from the ocean is solely the third case. Then, does the tree stump on dry land, which has neither explanation nor usage, constitute the fourth case? Even if it does, it is not considered the fourth case because it is unrelated to the word "ocean-born." These names are also divided by scholars into two types: name-sound and genus-sound. The first is Deva-given and offering-given, and so on. The second is trees and cattle, and so on. The former does not depend on genus, while the latter depends on genus. Here, in the context of explaining the sound of direct perception, it is said that the latter two direct perceptions do not depend on the senses, which is detrimental to those who believe that self-awareness direct perception and mental direct perception depend on consciousness, and that sense direct perception experiences the senses, and mental direct perception experiences the mental sense. Second, refuting misconceptions about the basis is divided into two: refuting direct perception and refuting inference. The first has three aspects: refuting the misconception of considering what is not as what is, considering what is not as what is, and considering what is and is not as equal. The first is that there are cases where the illusory aspect of an object is considered a valid direct perception, for example, the consciousness that perceives the light of a jewel as a jewel. Although there is illusion in the difference between the object, inside and outside, it is a valid direct perception merely for the jewel, because the determined meaning is obtained, which is the view of Rgyan (Ornament). There are cases where the illusory aspect of time is considered a valid direct perception, for example, the dream consciousness that mistakes midnight for noon is also a valid direct perception for the child of noon, which is the view of Du-lha. There are cases where the illusory aspect of appearance is considered a valid direct perception, for example, the appearance of a yellow conch shell, although there is illusion in color, it is valid in shape, which is the view of the translator. These are not direct perceptions, because the self-characteristic of the jewel does not give rise to appearance, and because the self-characteristic of the child's form and the self-characteristic of the conch shell's shape do not appear. If they appear, then the color and the daytime form, etc., which are the same substance as them, should also appear.
