They say that establishing the three aspects as a basis, and establishing the second three aspects in order to establish the reason with the first three aspects, is like an infinite basis. It is unreasonable, because as the nature of the reason for establishment, is the result to be established, the meaning to be expressed, definite or indefinite? If it is definite, then there is no need for a nature, because even without a nature, the meaning to be expressed can be understood. If it is indefinite, then the infinite nature will be destroyed, because the subsequent of this infinity cannot be determined, so the fundamental nature is indefinite, therefore the meaning to be expressed is also indefinite. If it is said that even if the subsequent of infinity is indefinite, there is no fault, because the meaning to be expressed and the meaning to be established are established by the name of nature and basis. If this is the case, even if the three aspects are indefinite, just by determining the made, one can understand that sound is impermanent, and even if the characteristics of a cow are indefinite, just by determining the white color, one can understand that it is a cow. If it is admitted, then seeing that sound is made, it is impossible to generate the superimposition of permanence, and other objects without the characteristics of a cow will also be determined to be cows. Moreover, the name of a cow is the nature of the second name, because if there is no place to be fixated on the name of a cow itself without being confused by sound, then it will not be knowable, because it is beyond what can be known and said. If there is, then that is the second name, so the name of the cow itself is the nature of the subsequent name, because that is its place of fixation. Therefore, the previous name is the nature, and for itself, the subsequent name that can be fixated on by sound is the meaning to be expressed, so for the knowable, there is no phenomenon that cannot be a nature, some people, namely the Tsang Nakpa, think so. This is refuted, if this is the case, then for the branch that is recognized as the nature of a tree, if there is no second branch, then the branch will become not a tree, and if there are other branches for it, then it also needs a third and fourth branch, etc., so for the tree also, the nature will become infinite, it is the same. If it is said that when establishing a sandalwood tree, when establishing a branch, there is no need to seek an infinite nature, because at that time, even if the branch does not have other branches, the branch will not become not a tree, because it does not establish that the branch and the sandalwood tree have otherness, but establishes that the essence is inseparable. Then, the name of a cow...

Where is there a need for endless negation? Even if a term does not have a second term, the previous term will not go beyond the scope of being knowable and expressible. Because having characteristics such as dewlap and hump does not establish that terms such as cow are different from each other, but rather establishes that the knowable is the nature of a cow. If dewlap and hump are established as knowable and expressible, then the term cow, which is inseparable from them, is also established as knowable and expressible. For example, if it is established as a sandalwood tree, then the branch, which is inseparable from it, is also established as a tree. Second, according to our own system, when one realizes that the term "cow" and the meaning of dewlap and hump are related, then dewlap and hump can establish the term cow. If you ask when one can realize that the meaning of words is related, for the wise, merely seeing the meaning of reason and characteristics can establish those terms. For the foolish, establishing those characteristics as reasons to establish terms can establish them. For the very foolish, it may be necessary to connect the nature of each of the three ways and the meaning of dewlap and hump, that is, the flesh piled up on the neck, the skin hanging on the throat, and so on. If one does not understand even after saying so much, then that is not an object for establishing terms. So, how do you establish terms for the foolish? For both reason and characteristics, the combination of general and specific belongs here, each with two. The two combinations of each reason and characteristic are also the final term in the third combination, so there is no need to establish a fourth, because for the fourth and beyond, there is no need or ability to establish a term. The four combinations of word recollection are the third combination of that combination. So, what are the first ones? The first of the two combinations of reason is: wherever there is smoke, there must be fire, for example, the kitchen. There is also smoke somewhere, that is, because this is merely taking smoke as a general reason, and establishing fire somewhere as a reason. The first of the two combinations of characteristics is: dewlap and hump are the basis, indicating that they are the characteristics of a cow. Its opposite is to cut off the meaning that is directly contradictory to it, which is called the establishment of the opposite. This is because this is merely taking dewlap and hump as a general characteristic, and specifically establishing it as the characteristic of a cow. For these, smoke is the reason, if you ask why, because generally
