Thus it was said. Third, if deliberation becomes either mental deliberation or decisive cognition, otherwise it will become the fourth non-valid cognition. If asked thus, mental deliberation is impossible, and even if it is decisive cognition, it will not become the fourth, because decisive cognition itself, facing outwards is other-cognition, and facing inwards is self-awareness. Therefore, without deliberation, entering and returning are uncertain, and without valid cognition, deliberation may be mistaken, so both are necessary to ascertain the connection. Second, summarizing the meaning is, there is no connection with the meaning of things, because that has already been refuted before. Although the two connections do not exist in meaning, they are established in the mind, with the verbal cognition that distinguishes differences, distinguishing sound, production, and impermanence separately, and with the verbal cognition that gathers them into one, grasping the three as one, establishing them as the connection of one entity, and so on. Mistaking the meaning of words as self-characterized, and entering into self-characterization, the realization of connection arises, because it has already been established before. This is called the summarizing verse. In the Treasury of Valid Cognition, the explanation of the sixth chapter, the Investigation of Connection, is completed. Second, the way of realizing contradiction, the general characteristic of contradiction, and the two divisions of the basis of characteristics. The first is, any phenomenon that harms any other phenomenon is the characteristic of the contradiction of that other phenomenon. Second, divided into general explanation and individual explanation. The first is, both contradictories are real, or either one is unreal, depending on the difference of the object of observation, two contradictions are established, because depending on the first, there is the contradiction of co-non-existence, and depending on the second, there is the contradiction of mutual exclusion. Second, divided into the contradiction of co-non-existence and the contradiction of mutual exclusion. First, the definition of co-non-existence, the place where contradiction exists, the time when the harmed disappears, and the valid cognition that determines contradiction. There are also two in the first, first, refuting other systems, some people think that the definition of co-non-existence is, the harmed and the harmer residing in two things, such a view is not reasonable, because the general characteristic of the harmed and the harmer gathering together is impossible, and if the parts are established, it is not all-pervasive like the characteristic of cause and effect. Second, the self-system is, therefore the harmed and the harmer should be represented as distinct, like cause and effect

Yes. Furthermore, the characteristic of what is harmed is: arising without relying on permanence, and when other phenomena are near, arising without potency. What is called the harmer is the co-acting cause by which a phenomenon that arises without relying on permanence causes other phenomena to arise without potency. Any thing that harms the existence of another thing is the characteristic of being incompatible with that other thing. Second, the identification of contradiction. There are two aspects to this: refutation and rebuttal. The first is: all contradictions of non-coexistence apply only to real phenomena of the harmer and the harmed, because it is impossible for two permanent phenomena to coexist. Moreover, it does not apply to the same entity and individual non-existents. Furthermore, it is a permanent phenomenon, not a moment, because the harmer and harmed here are the producer and the produced, so it cannot be established in a moment. Second, there are two rebuttals: refuting the unreasonableness of examining the location, and refuting the unreasonableness of examining the substance. The first is: contradiction is impossible in a moment. Since permanence is not established as a substance, these two locations where contradiction exists are unreasonable. There is no fault, because from the proximate cause of each previous moment, the subsequent moment that did not exist before arises, and the permanent phenomenon is established as the preventer and the prevented. Therefore, there is no previous fault. The second is: if the contradictory particles of heat and cold exist together, it contradicts non-coexistence, and if they do not coexist, then one is destroyed as soon as they first meet, so it would become simultaneous cause and effect, if it is said so. In response to this, rejecting other answers besides the two. Some, namely the Samkhyas, believe that cold-touch particles disappear near the category of hot-touch like stars in the daytime. Some, namely the Vaisheshikas, believe that even the relationship of the combination of cold-touch does not cause harm because the substances are mutually permanent. Some Vaisheshikas believe that the cold-touch particles transform into hot-touch particles when they meet the hot-touch particles. Some Shravakas believe that they exist with surrounding intervals without meeting, and because the hot-touch blocks the arrival of other cold-touch, they cannot create gross matter. Those schools that assert the permanence of particles are mistaken, because in this way, they are permanent like the first two schools.
