There are two types of proofs of connection in argumentation. The first is: The essence is the horns and mane, and what is signified is the essence of the cow, a connection of one essence, also the horns and mane, because of clinging to the identity of name and meaning, "this is exactly a cow," it is established by considering the thing to be one essence, otherwise, in reality, the name and what is signified are not one, because what is signified is fabricated and does not exist in reality. The connection between the general tree and the specific leaf is also established by considering the single negation and the collection of the two as one, so the two are considered things, i.e., one essence, which is established by convention, otherwise, in reality, the general and the specific are not one entity, because that has already been negated. The second is: How is it proven that "conditioned" and "impermanent" are one? There are three points to this: establishing the root sign, grasping the meaning of the connection, and eliminating uncertainty. The first point is: Whatever exists, that is a thing, that is momentarily destroyed, like a pot. Sound also exists, this is the nature sign. The second point, regarding determining the meaning of the connection, there are three points, which can be understood from the self-commentary. The third point, in eliminating uncertainty, there are independent and harmful signs. The first point has two aspects: establishing the sign and eliminating harm to it. The first point is: Whatever is produced is only of a nature that does not remain in the second moment, so it is destroyed, and it does not need another cause of destruction, because when the second moment arises, the first moment is called destruction, and there is no dharma established by destroying and then destroying. Because there is no cause, it is destruction, and so on. The sign is: The essence is independent of other causes, because its essence is certain, like the fruit produced at the end of the collection of causes does not depend on others. The destruction of things also does not depend on other causes, this is the nature sign. The second point includes eliminating the unestablished, eliminating the uncertain, and eliminating the excessive. The first point is: Just because a pot or tree exists, this destruction that does not depend on other causes is not established, because things like hammers or fire depend on other causes to be destroyed. The thing to be destroyed, such as a pot, and the non-thing that does not exist after being destroyed, both can use the word destruction, but

For both, destruction does not need other causes. First, because it is the thing itself, it does not depend on anything other than the cause of the thing. Second, because it is a non-thing, there is no cause at all. Here, analyze and refute: If the cause, such as a hammer, destroys a pot, is the destruction a non-thing or a thing? According to the first view, it does not depend on a cause. If it does depend on a cause, even if it is considered a "non-thing," it will become a thing, like a sprout. According to the second view, if it is a thing, is the destruction the pot itself or something else? According to the first view, what other cause is needed to make a pot? It is not needed, because it is already self-established. According to the second view, does the cause of destruction, the hammer, make a hammer, a tile, or something other than these two, other than the pot? This is not established. It is impossible for a hammer to make a hammer itself. According to the second view, I also agree that the proximate cause of the pot and the co-arising condition of the hammer will produce a tile. According to the third view, then the pot will not be destroyed by the hammer, because it made something other than the two. Therefore, both you and I agree that the pot is destroyed. Since it has been proven by valid cognition that destruction does not need other causes, destruction is established as not depending on causes. That is, "Therefore, because the result does not remain." That is what was said. Furthermore, if one thinks that destruction means making the essence of a thing disappear, and then says that "non-existence" is caused by a cause, then this implicitly establishes that destruction does not depend on other causes, because "a non-thing is caused by a cause" and "a cause does not cause anything" have the same meaning, just like looking at something that does not exist and not having anything to look at. That is, "That is because the cause has no power." That is what was said. Second, refuting that cause and effect are not necessarily of the same kind. Refuting the two cases where cause and effect are not of the same kind. The first case is: This reason of independence is also uncertain, because even if the collection of seeds and fertilizer is complete and it is determined that it does not depend on other causes, it is still seen that sprouts do not arise. This example is not uncertain, because the collection of seeds, etc., needs to be transformed into a special ability, so it does not contain the characteristic of independence. Then, even if it is established that a created thing has destruction, does it depend on other times at that time? If it depends on time, then the created thing itself
