Etc., even if there is no meaning in reality, but if you connect with other-exclusion like yourself, then is it a relationship of what is to be proven and what proves in consciousness? It is unreasonable, because there are harms to possessors, etc., so it cannot be a relationship. If there is no harm, then the relationship is established in consciousness, but since both the one entity and the arising-from-that relationship are included, it is unreasonable in other respects. How does harm exist? For example, there is no relationship when a cane and a yew tree exist simultaneously, but the later yew tree arising from the earlier moment's cane is included in the arising-from-that relationship. 'Made' and 'impermanent' etc. in relation to sound is one entity (བདག་གཅིག,梵文:eka-svabhāva,梵文罗马拟音:eka-svabhāva,English literal meaning: one's own nature), and the later arising of a collection from the former, such as 'Nok', 'covert language', 'shell', is arising-from-that. At the time of the cause-aggregate, cloth is excluded because it is visible but not observed. The later cloth arising from the earlier cause-aggregate is arising-from-that. There is no relationship when a person and a stick exist simultaneously, but the later possessor of a stick arising from the earlier moment's person and stick arises due to the arising-from-that relationship. There is no relationship established in reality when the cause has ceased and the result is present, but the connection of consciousness with other-exclusion is included in the arising-from-that relationship, and for others besides that, there is no relationship even in the consciousness of exclusion. Second, what was abandoned by Dharmakirti Etc., one verse is an intermediate verse. Second, in establishing relationship in consciousness, there are two aspects: how consciousness connects, and debate and response to that. First, it is impossible for a relationship to exist in reality, but it is reasonable for a relationship to be established in consciousness. For example, for one self-character of a pot, with other-exclusion that differentiates into distinct ones, the sound and the object of conceptualization that have the aspect of excluding 'not a bulging belly', 'not momentary', and 'not produced by causes and conditions' are divided into three negations: pot, impermanence, and made. With other-exclusion that gathers them together, grasping them as one is called the relationship of one entity. Similarly, if the fire seen earlier and the smoke seen later do not exist, they will not arise; connecting with conceptualization that takes manifestation and non-manifestation as a prerequisite is called the arising-from-that relationship. Relying on the signs based on these two relationships.

It is to establish the place of entry, and that is also from the 'Relationship Examination': From those where direct perception is not seen, the objects of cause and effect, etc., the distinctions that accurately show the meaning of relationship are inverted. Thus it is said. Those are not arbitrarily classified by the mind's own preferences without reason, but are done according to the difference between the objects of sound and distinction, and the terms as they are known in the world, as it is said, 'As it is known in the world,' etc. Second, refuting disputes by connecting oneness with the mind, and refuting disputes by arising from that. The first is: If what is made and impermanent are established in meaning as connected by the mind, then even if it is said that there is no relationship in meaning, it will become existent; if those connected by the mind are not established in meaning, then what is made, like sound being impermanent, will become not the cause of establishment in meaning. If you say that, there is no fault, because in the imputation of distinction, for sound, what is made, impermanent, etc., seeing the mind-dharma can enter into the meaning-dharma, and sound, not made, permanent, etc., cannot enter into the meaning-dharma, there are two kinds of situations, from being able to enter, one obtains the self-character of the place of entry, therefore it can become a relationship there, and the other because of not understanding, one cannot obtain the place of entry, therefore it cannot become a relationship, as it is said, 'Like the light of a jewel lamp,' etc. The second is: There is no relationship on the place of relationship, fire, but there is a relationship on the dharma of relationship, smoke, because if this smoke does not have that fire, it will not arise, if it does not exist in meaning, then that smoke will become without cause, and if it exists, then that itself will become the relationship of things. If you say that, the smoke of meaning-self-character, even if it only has the fact that it will not arise without fire, but that alone does not establish that the relationship exists in meaning, because if you grasp and connect that there will be no later smoke without the previous fire, then that is not distinction, therefore it cannot be connected, as it is said, 'The fault does not exist in the relationship of distinction.' Third, on the valid cognition that establishes the relationship, there are three: establishing the definition, identifying the basis of the definition, and the manner in which those are determined. First, there are two: oneness and the relationship arising from that. The first is: If it is established by valid cognition that there are different opposites in meaning, but existing as one, what is that valid cognition? To this, there is establishing terms and meaning.
