It is said to be "Buwo." Secondly, in general refutation: If it is not a valid cognition because it is uncertain in appearance, then all direct perceptions, as subjects, will become non-valid cognitions, because they are uncertain in appearance. Because the certainty in direct perception has been prohibited by the teacher. As it is said: Now, if you ask how uncertain things are also apprehended by direct perception? Direct perception does not ascertain anything, and what it apprehends is not through certainty. What is it then? It is through appearance. Therefore, direct perception's apprehension and non-apprehension are not determined by certainty and uncertainty. For those who are certain, it is not like that. Because some are certain and others are uncertain, apprehension and non-apprehension occur due to different ways of entering. In particular, it is unreasonable for the appearance of an object with unclear aspects to be uncertain, because the clarity and unclearness of aspects on one object are contradictory. Thirdly, regarding the refutation of objects with decisive objects, there are the former position and its refutation. First, the definition is: For things that have been previously realized and whose function has not diminished, it enters in a way that contradicts the superimposition of the opposite side. The divisions are two types: direct perceptual decisive knowledge and conceptual decisive knowledge. The first is like the second moment of sense direct perception, and the second is like the definite knowledge that arises after direct perception, and the memory that is guided by inference. They say so. Secondly, there are two types: general refutation and specific refutation of direct perceptual decisive knowledge. First, decisive knowledge, if decided by reason, will either become non-realization, or mistaken cognition, or valid cognition itself. It is impossible for it to be a consciousness other than these three. Like this, the decisive knowledge guided by both direct perception and inference is non-realization, because the object of valid cognition is momentary, and has already ceased. Even if it has not ceased, because the consciousness has already realized it, there is no need to realize it later. It is like a tree that has already been cut down, Sattva will not cut it again, and establishing what has already been established will become unestablished. If it is said that the apprehension of something that was previously realized, now thinking "this is it," then that is a mistaken consciousness that apprehends what is not it as it. If it is said that the consciousness infers the previous experience by the sign of present memory, then the existence of present memory itself is the self-aware direct perception of oneself. Secondly, the actual refutation. Elaborating on the unreasonableness of the prohibition.

Nga wo. First, refute the common basis for contradictory phenomena, and refute that sense consciousness is a valid cognition. Summarize and explain the conclusions of the refutation. First, how can there be a common basis for both direct perception and ascertainment? It is impossible because they contradict each other in terms of essence, object, time, and mode of apprehension. The essence of direct perception is non-conceptual, its object is the own-characteristic, its time is the present, and its mode of apprehension is clear and unmixed. Ascertainment, on the other hand, has a conceptual essence, its object is the meaning of words, its time is the recollection of the past, and its mode of apprehension is unclear and mixed. As it is said, "Having the cause of remembering words," etc., it should be understood in conjunction with this. Secondly, holding onto the continuity of categories such as blue is direct perception, because the first moment is valid cognition, and the subsequent consciousness, such as the second moment, is ascertainment. If you think so, the category is not the object of manifest direct perception, because the category is a series of moments, as well as the universal posited by the Tirthikas, and what is excluded from others. According to the first view, it is a substance and not a category; the second is impossible; and the third is also non-existent. Furthermore, the subsequent sense direct perception does not engage as a measurer of the object seen by the previous sense direct perception, because it has already been said that it has no necessary ability for this. Third, there is no common basis for direct perception and ascertainment, because their essences, etc., are contradictory. Furthermore, later sense direct perceptions are the subject, and are not ascertainments of memory, because they are direct perceptions. The category of blue, etc., is the subject, and sense direct perception is not valid cognition for you, because you are not existent, and therefore contradict its object. The object-possessor, sense direct perception, and the object, blue, etc., are not different before and after, because the object taken by the previous sense direct perception is also seen by the later one. If you do not differentiate moments in this way, but merely realize that object, the function of valid cognition is completed, and all subsequent determinations that "it is blue" are ascertainments. Then, the mind that subsequently determines "it is blue" is not direct perception, because it has determination. If you think that seeing blue as the same before and after is ascertainment, then holding onto sameness is conception, not direct perception, because sameness does not exist in reality, which will lead to the negation of universals. Therefore, there is no common basis for direct perception and ascertainment.
