. Or cover with silk and so on. The vases should also be covered so that they are not visible. Also offer worldly torma. Place the torma for the deceased, in order to pacify obstacles. Fourth, the preparation of the disciple has four points: the disciple to whom it is done, the ritual of how it is done, how many vows are obtained from it, and the manner of entering the preparation. The first point is, in the Guhyasamaja Tantra it says: "From one to twenty-five, take disciples who are not in pairs. More than that number of disciples, it is not known to be fully taken." As it is said, these are the disciples who have been previously accepted. If any one of these disciples dies and becomes a pair, what should be done? In the same tantra it says: "Whoever is a fully accepted disciple, if he is not present at the time of preparation, then draw his image, and do everything as it is said." As it is said, draw his image, establish the support, invite his consciousness, and then place him in the row, and give the empowerment together with him. This has two special necessities: for himself, it will become a special door for purifying sins, and for others, it can eliminate the fault of becoming a pair. If any one of the disciples does not come to the place of preparation for some reason, what should be done? In the same tantra it says: "Whoever is a fully accepted disciple, if for some reason, he does not come here, then let others take his place." As it is said, let any other person take his place, this shows a special case where even those who have not been accepted as disciples can be prepared. This also has two special necessities: he himself can obtain the empowerment, and others can eliminate the fault of becoming a pair. Some people explain that even if the preparation of these scriptures is not done, the main practice can be done, because they have not even thought of the words "if he is not present at the time of preparation," and have not measured the meaning of the words "do everything as it is said," which applies to both preparation and main practice. The second point is, Jetsun Rinpoche said that in some of the Kriya Tantra preparations, there are the actions of body and mind, the actions of body and speech, and the examination of the signs of accomplishment, and the unsurpassed

Regarding the rituals, there are various ways of making them into fourteen points, thirteen points, twelve points, and so on. Here, the first of the fourteen points, the physical action, is to abandon disrespect towards the sacred Dharma and to generate respect. For this purpose, the disciples are bathed, offerings and mandalas are presented, and they sit with respectful conduct. If the remaining thirteen are summarized, they can be condensed into three points: generating a special intention, requesting special meaning, and examining the signs of accomplishment. The first is further divided into three points: identifying the fruit to be pursued, identifying the opposing aspects, and advising to abandon those and focus on the fruit to be pursued. The first is further divided into two points: the best is the accomplishment of mantra, and if that does not occur, it is also shown that the next life is also acceptable. The first is: "Whatever accomplishment of mantra is sought, enter this mandala." This means that the Sanskrit word for mantra is mantra (Tibetan: མནྟྲ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: मंत्र, Sanskrit Romanization: mantra, Chinese literal meaning: mantra), where "mano" means "mind (Sanskrit Devanagari: मन, Sanskrit Romanization: manas, Chinese literal meaning: mind)", and "tāra" means "protection (Sanskrit Devanagari: तार, Sanskrit Romanization: tāra, Chinese literal meaning: salvation)". If we were to say what it protects from, along with its opposing aspects, it would be protection from thoughts, signs, and concepts. This can also be applied to the three tantras. From the cause tantra, because it naturally protects from thoughts, signs, and concepts, it is a mantra; from the method tantra, because it is a method that protects from thoughts, signs, and concepts, it is a mantra; from the result tantra, because it has already been completely protected from all thoughts, signs, and concepts, the name of mantra is established. Here, because it is related to the word "accomplishment," it is applied to the latter, generating the intention to attain the thirteenth bhumi of Vajradhara, the supreme accomplishment of Mahamudra, for the benefit of sentient beings. The second is: "If you desire merit, then other than that." The five verses say that even if there is no such thought, but if there is a thought of abandoning samsara and attaining nirvana, then enter the mandala. Here, the next life is not referring to wanting the status of gods and humans in the next life, but only to the thought of wanting to attain nirvana. The second is: "Do not seek the fruit of this." The three verses say that the fruit of this is led by the previous next life, referring to wanting the happiness and fruit of samsara in this life and the next. As it says in the empowerment, in short, the so-called this life refers to longevity and freedom from illness in this life.
