A Detailed Explanation of the Great River of Empowerment of Glorious Hevajra, the Ocean of Great Bliss. A Detailed Explanation of the Great River of Empowerment of Glorious Hevajra, the Ocean of Great Bliss. A treatise called "A Detailed Explanation of the Great River of Empowerment of Glorious Hevajra, the Ocean of Great Bliss." A detailed explanation of the Great River of Empowerment of Glorious Hevajra, called the Ocean of Great Bliss. I prostrate to the Lama and Glorious Hevajra. The four mandalas are filled with the rain of the four empowerments. The four good paths cause the four strides to dissolve. The great benefactor who makes the crops of the four bodies flourish. Kunga (Kun dga') by name, the supreme guide, Zangpo Gyal (bZang po rGyal). Abiding in the samadhi of empowerment, with sweet songs and, Auspicious words and various offerings, With the sound of Hūṃ (藏文,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) Phaṭ (藏文,梵文天城体:फट,梵文罗马拟音:phaṭ,汉语字面意思:啪) , may all obstacles be destroyed. I prostrate to the assembly of deities complete with the three seats. Having gathered the essence of all the profound tantras, Transmitted from the unequaled accomplished masters, Bestowing empowerment on disciples with pure rituals, Is the beginning of the path of Vajrayana. Here, some have not studied to be scholars, And with the desire to gather retinues and possessions, On the image of unrelated, deteriorated rituals, Many hold the wonder that it is empowerment. Having dispelled these, for the impartial seekers of meaning, Wishing to benefit, the tradition of oral instructions, Following the footsteps opened by the supreme Jetsun, I am pleased to write a commentary on the ripening empowerments. Here, the classification of the rituals of ripening empowerments, From the ways explained by the masters who have accomplished the intention of each of the tantras, There are many slightly different aspects. The common ones are not contradictory, And the uncommon ones are not mixed. In this way, I will write a commentary on the river of empowerment of the Hevajra oral tradition, with five topics: Showing that empowerment is the actual basis of the Vajrayana path, The faults of not receiving empowerment, The benefits of empowerment, The general classification of empowerments to be bestowed, The nature of the ritual. First: Empowerment is the actual basis of the Vajrayana path, as it is said in the Vajra Peak Tantra: "The path of ripening and liberation, Is the supreme teaching of the Buddhas' enlightenment." Therefore, all the paths of Vajrayana are included in the two, ripening and liberation. So, are both ripening and liberation the actual basis of the path?

If one thinks that the ripening empowerment itself is the real basis of the path, then, having received the ripening empowerment, there are three ways to traverse all paths without relying on the practice of the path of liberation: merely guarding the vows can traverse all paths; merely receiving the empowerment can traverse all paths without having to guard it in many lifetimes; and having received the ripening empowerment, relying on the practice of the path of liberation to traverse all paths. The first way, in the "Secret Treasury" it says: "If the correct empowerment is given, empowerment will occur in life after life. Therefore, within seven lifetimes, even without practice, one will become a Buddha." And, in the "Fifth Chapter of the Tsokhor Vows" it says: "If there is no transgression, it will be accomplished after sixteen lifetimes." This shows that, having received the ripening empowerment, if one is not defiled by the root transgression, the empowerment itself will increase more and more, and the supreme fruit will be accomplished in seven or sixteen lifetimes, thus proving that empowerment is the real basis of the path. The second way, like King Indrabhuti, merely receiving empowerment in the illusory mandala of the Secret Assembly, it is said that in the wisdom of empowerment, the ground of the thirteenth Vajradhara is born, which also proves that empowerment is the real basis of the path. The third way, for others who cannot be liberated by empowerment, although it is necessary to practice the two stages, there is no path to practice that is independent of empowerment. In the stage of the vase empowerment, obtaining the vow to restrain ordinary conceptual thoughts, practicing this vow is practicing the generation stage; in the stage of the three upper empowerments, obtaining the vow to restrain the conceptual thoughts of attachment to rare deities, practicing this vow is practicing the completion stage. Therefore, this also proves that empowerment is the real basis of the path. Secondly, in the "Mahamudra Tilaka" it says: "Without empowerment, there is no accomplishment, like grinding sand there is no oil. If someone relies on the scriptures, and out of pride explains them, without having received empowerment, the teacher and student will die soon, even if they attain accomplishment, they will fall into hell. Therefore, one should make every effort to request empowerment from the lama." This shows that, without having received empowerment, merely relying on the scriptural authority of the tantras, one explains the tantras with the arrogance of thinking that one understands, which is a fault.
