Truly explains actions. Possessing the demeanor of calmness and peace. Gives complete fearlessness to all sentient beings. Understands the excellent combination of mantras and tantras. Knowledgeable in treatises and possesses compassion. To all who speak pleasant words. Treats all sentient beings like children. Always delights in giving, etc. Diligently strives in yoga and meditation. Speaks truthfully and is non-harming. Possesses compassion and the mind of benefiting others. The mind possesses the mudra of equanimity. Becomes the protector of all sentient beings. Knows the differences in the thoughts of sentient beings. Is the friend of those without protectors. Possesses a body with fully complete faculties. Possesses a pleasing appearance. Understands the true nature of empowerment's meaning. Words are clear, qualities are like an ocean. Constantly teaches the abiding Dharma. That is said to be a teacher. As it is said, this is from the perspective of elaborating on the qualities. In brief, Jetsun Rinpoche said: The Lama lineage has faith and understands the meaning of the tantras. Keeps the supreme vows and is adorned with many instructions. Compassion moistens the mind and knows many treatises. Rely on his feet and pray many times. As it is said, it is necessary to possess such qualities. Secondly, there are three: the difference of the inherent nature; the difference of whether the mind is trained or not trained by listening and contemplating; the difference of whether the mind is trained or not trained by learning. First, from the Supreme Bliss Samvara Tantra: The teacher delights in the Dharma, and properly gathers disciples with good lineage. Without compassion, angry and fierce, arrogant, undisciplined, and distracted. Stubborn, ignorant, lazy, and without love for the lives of others. Attached to the possessions of others, the teacher should always abandon. Stable, disciplined, intelligent, patient, upright, and without deceit. Completely abandoning the ten non-virtues, pleasing to see for all sentient beings. Like a burning fire and poison, etc., do not touch the possessions of others. Always and constantly worship the teacher, delighting in the view of the sacred Dharma. Always delighting in giving, etc., desiring this world and the next. To those highly praised disciples, give the sacred mandala. As it is said, the first two lines give a summary, then the next six lines are the qualities to be abandoned, and then the three verses explain the qualities to be cultivated. Secondly, as mentioned above,

If someone thinks, should those with the characteristics of what should be abandoned be abandoned in all circumstances? If one's own mindstream is not tamed, then it should be abandoned; however, through hearing, thinking, and discipline, gradually taming one's own mindstream and becoming a vessel, then one should only accept it. As it is said in the "Two Examinations Tantra": "Committing the five heinous crimes, delighting in killing living beings, as well as any inferior birth, ignorance and violent deeds, ugly appearance and incomplete limbs, thinking of these will lead to accomplishment." As it is said, if one can accomplish even without taming one's own mindstream, then it contradicts the previous scriptures that say one should abandon; if one still cannot accomplish even after taming one's own mindstream, then it contradicts the latter scriptures. If asked: How to tame one's own mindstream through hearing and thinking? As it is said in the eighth chapter of the "Root Tantra Subsequent Part": "Therein is explained the Vaibhashika, the Sutra Pitaka is also the same, then the Yogachara, after that the Madhyamaka is explained, knowing all the stages of mantra, after that the Hevajra is explained." As it is said, one should gradually study the four philosophical schools and the four classes of tantras, or even if one cannot do that, one should cut off the superimpositions through hearing and thinking as appropriate. Those with the characteristics of what should be accepted as mentioned earlier should be accepted from the very beginning. As it is said in the "Two Examinations Tantra": "Habituating to the ten virtues and respecting the guru, taming the senses and being liberated from pride, being liberated from anger, that one will definitely achieve temporary accomplishment." As it is said, it refers to the situation where one has become a vessel from the very beginning even without taming one's own mindstream. Therefore, one should know the difference between the innate dispositions, whether directly or indirectly, both are acceptable. There are three aspects to the third point: gradually taming one's own mindstream through the two lower disciplines; taming one's own mindstream through any one of the two lower disciplines; and being empowered from the very beginning without relying on the above methods. The first situation, as it is said in the various mandala rituals: "One's own fourfold assembly of disciples who possess the vows, those who have the mind of the Great Vehicle, the authentic ritual spoken by the Tathagata should be permitted." The fourfold assembly mentioned refers to the two parents who are monks, and the two parents who are lay practitioners, making a total of four assemblies. The novice parents and the female novice are attendants or retinues of the monk parents, so they are mentioned implicitly. These retinues each possess their own vows, the meaning is each
