The method of supplementing. First: As outside, so inside. Completely reveal the nature of totality. The meaning of this phrase is that during the stage of the Completion Phase, all external appearances must be gathered into the inner channels. However, in the context of this body mandala, it must be explained as how the outer mandala exists, and how it is gathered into the inner body. Therefore, the outer mandala has four sides, which internally correspond to the upper and lower parts of the body, and are mutually equal and complete. The four doors internally correspond to the four openings through which the winds of the four elements of the heart flow, and are complete. As it is said, in the second distinction of the sixth meaning: On the base of the petals, the channels of the four elements, like the nature of a butter lamp, are situated in the four directions. Thus, it is contemplated. The eight pillars that surround the palace on the outside correspond to the eight feet that surround the body on the inside. The twenty-four spokes of the three wheels on the outside correspond to the twenty-four places, such as the crown of the head, on the inside. The eight peaks of Mount Meru on the outside correspond to the four corners of the head on the inside. The base or lower foundation of the palace on the outside, whatever it may be, the four elements correspond to the four places such as the soles of the feet. Mount Meru, the twenty-one vertebrae in the shape of a stick, is explained as abiding and complete. Second: By the Guru's method of sequential means, this is where the complete mandala abides. Those not explicitly shown here are supplemented by the Guru's oral instructions, and the parts of the mandala are practiced to completion. There are two lineages of oral instructions: one transmitted from the Lord of Yoga, and the other transmitted from Naropa. In the first, the protective circles such as the variegated vajra at the crown of the head are also meditated on the body, and the other parts of the palace, such as the walls of the five-lined eyes, are also taught to be meditated on the body. In Naropa's oral instructions, the meditation on the protective circle on the body is not apparent. The eyes, ears, nose, tongue, intestines, etc., are only mentioned as ornaments of the palace, but not clearly explained. However, the statement by the Noble One to meditate as on Hevajra is the oral instruction of the Wisdom Dakini, so it seems permissible. The term "oral instruction" also refers to the oral transmission from the Wisdom Dakini to the Siddha, and then to the root Guru.

There must be a transmission from oral instruction. Some lamas sometimes fabricate things at will, piecing together whatever fits, which is not a pith instruction. If that were the case, there would be no need to transmit pith instructions from elsewhere, because one could just fabricate them oneself. So, when practicing, is it enough to simply count it as complete? Or is it necessary to practice the form itself? If you think so, there are two key points here: first, to gather what is external into the internal, and second, to block ordinary thoughts within. In the first case, it seems that simply counting it as complete is sufficient. Because Jetsun (Venerable One) also said that the support of the bell and vajra body mandala is the deity, and the form and letters themselves should also be practiced as the essence of the deity. In the second case, if the focus is on blocking ordinary thoughts within, then it is also necessary to practice the form itself. If you do not practice the form of the eight pillars, you will not be able to block ordinary thoughts. At that time, wherever the part of the body is, you practice that part of the palace there, rather than dismantling everything and practicing it as one palace, which will be discussed below. Third, refuting wrong ideas about this, there are two aspects: first, to generally rely on the classification of practice methods, and second, to refute the unreasonable aspects of this. The first is: there are four ways to practice the dependent body mandala. The first way is: as just said, explained by the meaning of the tantras and pith instructions, is the way of Jetsun Sakya, that is, wherever the part of the external palace is in the part of the internal body, there you practice the essence or form of the external part. Jetsun Tsemoche said that in the bell and vajra body mandala, the support also starts from the wind at the sole of the foot, and all parts of the body, such as the pleasures of the tongue and lips, abide between the ornaments of the mandala. That is, you only practice how the sutras and pith instructions explain the external parts, rather than necessarily practicing the external appearance as it appears in the manifestation, because the bell and vajra body mandala has no external mandala, and although the external mandala of Hevajra does not have an arrow net and the Mount Meru below, it is still necessary to practice what the external mandala generally has. The second way is: the scholars of the past, Ngo, Rong, and Gyalse, etc., are the generation stage.
