An Explanation of the Body Mandala of Glorious Hevajra, The Essence of Great Bliss. An Explanation of the Body Mandala of Glorious Hevajra, The Essence of Great Bliss. An Explanation of the Body Mandala of Glorious Hevajra, The Essence of Great Bliss. Homage! An Explanation of the Body Mandala of Glorious Hevajra, called The Essence of Great Bliss. Homage to the venerable and compassionate lamas, and to the Bhagavan Hevajra. Entering the Sugata's six families of deities and the reality of the five bhaga wisdoms, the essence of great bliss abiding in itself, the means of taking and holding. The supreme and glorious lama who reveals the naturally delightful mandala, inseparable from Heruka himself, having bowed at his feet, skillfully gathering all external elaborations within, in the self-nature manifestation of great bliss wisdom, the means of realizing all phenomena that appear, listen with joy to the explanation of the profound intention. According to the root tantra of glorious Hevajra and the explanatory tantra, the Samputa Tantra, the oral instructions of the yogi Virupa regarding the body mandala, and the way in which the venerable previous lamas have accepted it, there are three topics to be explained here: the general meaning of the word "mandala," the detailed classification of the mandala, and the specific explanation of the body mandala. First, why is it called a "mandala"? Its Sanskrit equivalent is "mandala," from the syllable "ma," manusara is the essence, which is bodhicitta, great bliss. "La" means to take or hold, since it takes and holds the essence of great bliss, it is called a mandala. The root tantra says: "'Man' is said to be the essence, bodhicitta is great bliss, because it takes hold, it is the mandala itself, the gathering is said to be the mandala itself." And the Samputa Tantra says: "The supreme essence of all things, because it takes and cuts off, the body is the mandala itself. Of the thirty-two great channels, the mandala is also the mandala itself, bodhicitta is great bliss, that mandala is called the mandala." Thus it is said. That very meaning of establishing mandala as taking the essence of great bliss, whether it is painted on cloth or made of colored powders,

It also falls into the mandala of self-generation. As it is said by Manpazha: "There are four mandalas: drawing, body, bhaga, and bodhicitta. And the places of the five wisdoms, etc., are the cause of attainment." Therefore, some lecturers say that the main deity is the "center (dkyil)" and the retinue is the "wheel ('khor)"; the support is the "center" and the supported is the "wheel"; the deceased is the "center" and the worldly people are the "wheel," which is just arbitrary talk without any scriptural basis. Secondly, there are six ways of classifying: classifying into eight mandalas, six mandalas, five mandalas, four mandalas, three mandalas, and two mandalas. The first is: The great accomplished one, Lujang, said: "In order to accomplish all the benefits of the disciples, one should draw eight kinds of wheels. Jewels, seeds, flowers, and colors, as well as sand, lime, and powder, likewise, the mandala of mind is true." The first two of these are in the tenth section of the first chapter of the root tantra: "Dust colors are sacred colors, or with medium colors, or with the powder of five jewels, or with grains, etc." The meaning is the same. The third is to place flowers on the deity's image after the support mandala of dust colors has been drawn. The fourth is a thangka painted on cloth with colors. The fifth and sixth are sand and stone powder from the source, which are the materials for colors. The seventh is the samadhi mandala and the meditation mandala spoken of by the followers of Yeshe Zhap, which have the same meaning. The eighth has the same meaning as the body mandala, because Acharya Vajra Bell calls the spontaneously accomplished mandala the "true mandala." The second is from the "Nomenclature Lama": "The letter mandala is the first, the second is the symbolic mandala, the third is the hand mudra, the fourth is the image arrangement, the fifth is the flower scattering, and the sixth is the assembly mandala. After drawing these mandalas, one should constantly practice and offer." The first five are dust mandalas, with letters such as hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ།,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:摧伏), symbols such as vajras, and supreme
