He abides in a right-extended posture, which means subduing Bhairava and the Lord of Time. The hair is made into a topknot. The crest jewel is the tip above the five dry skulls. The skull garland is made of five sets of five dry skulls. Placing the crescent moon refers to placing the first day's moon on the left side. Having a crown adorned with various vajras means that the various vajras themselves are used as a crown, placed on the hair above the topknot. Here, Dodjo Khenpo in "Dispelling Errors" says that describing it as having a topknot of hair marked with various vajras, and thinking that the various vajras press down on the topknot is not the meaning of the tantra. Also, in "Manifest Conduct," saying that it is meaningless to explain the crescent moon as the first day's moon when it is mentioned many times is unreasonable. In "Vinayasamuccaya," it says, "The crown is marked with various vajras." Therefore, starting from the hairline, measuring four fingers is the topknot, and measuring four fingers from there is the crown of the head. When various vajras are placed at the junction of these two, sometimes it is said to mark the topknot, and sometimes it is said to mark the crown of the head, because it is spoken of with such terms. The term "crescent moon" is a general name for the incomplete moon, and it does not only refer to the eighth day of the lunar month. Because when explaining the meaning of the mantra of the root mantra of Hevajra, it is said that the teeth are like a crescent moon, which means that the teeth are like the first day's moon, and not like the teeth of the eighth day's moon. In the ancient stories, when the gods and asuras churned the ocean, the moon appeared and was taken by Ishvara as a head ornament, and then it was snatched away and used to adorn the head of the Bhagavan here. Placing it on the left side symbolizes the flow of bodhicitta to the left. The example of the first day's moon is used because, like the moon from the first to the fifteenth day gradually increasing, it symbolizes the increasing growth of bodhicitta. In "Vinayasamuccaya," it also says, "Adorned with the crescent moon." And in "Essence," it says, "In the heart is a moon mandala." In the explanation of these meanings, it says, "The crest jewel of hair adorned with the new moon." For these, it must also be explained as both the full moon mandala and the crescent moon. Otherwise, it would be necessary to explain both.
