It is a trick of the mind, and although it is empty of the three—arising, ceasing, and abiding—due to not realizing it as such, it is deluded by inverted conceptualizations, and thus the sinful nature of the mind appears as an external demon, that is it. As Shantideva said, "Thus all fears and immeasurable sufferings are said to arise from the mind, as taught by the words of truth." And so on. That is free from elaboration in the ultimate truth, but in conventional terms, it will arise until one's own mind is subdued, and will not arise once subdued. As stated in the third chapter of the "Truthful Words": "Not a demon, nor not a demon, one should bind one's own mind. When one's own mind is subdued, where can demons enter?" Therefore, in any case, if one's own mind does not lose the conceptualizations of grasping and being grasped, and is liberated from the thought of cherishing oneself, possessing the Bodhicitta of regarding oneself and others equally, and the person who realizes that appearances are without inherent existence, like illusions, these three will not be afflicted by demons. If one does not possess these qualities, there will be obstacles, and even protection will not be able to withstand them. For example, in a region in southern India, there was a king who held non-Buddhist doctrines, and he had a place of offering for a non-Buddhist who held the doctrine of the Shanti sect. The king Raja requested him to perform the empowerment according to his own tradition. So, he built a mandala palace, erected five kinds of flags and banners, constructed a mandala of colored powders, prepared extensive offerings, and performed the empowerment. At that time, a large crowd of people gathered. Not far from there, there was a Buddhist yogi named Bhojadeva, who meditated on Chakrasamvara. He thought, "This person will harm the Buddhist teachings," so he summoned the wind god and offered a torma. The wind god asked him what to do, and he said, "Blow away those people who are performing the empowerment." The wind god said, "That's easy." So, he rode a deer, carried a wind banner, transformed into a whirlwind, and in an instant, he destroyed everything without a trace. At that time, the non-Buddhist yogi thought, "I am utterly disgraced, this must be the Buddhist yogi in the mountain cave's

Thinking it was a trick, he summoned the fire god again and offered seven libations of clarified butter. A Buddhist yogi acted as Paki Zo, and the fire god and his retinue arrived in an instant. The yogi, knowing that this was an obstacle, immediately meditated on a protective wheel, seven layers of directions, four layers above, and a vajra foundation below. In the center of that, with his thirty-seven deities and their retinues, as the main deity recited the mantra with pride, the fire god's retinue crashed into the fire mountain and returned. The fire god said, "I am the nature of fire, so it is effortless for me." Then he crossed the fire mountain and three abysses, crashed into the net of arrows, and returned to the heretics, saying, "I cannot harm him, please accept seven libations of clarified butter." So he left, as told by Dama. In general, the necessity of meditating on the protective wheel, and especially the necessity of meditating on many layers, is well established. Second, there are four points to meditating on the great meaning of the wisdom wheel: the way it is explained in the scriptures, the way it is explained by the commentators, the way it is meditated according to the oral instructions, and the explanation of the necessity of meditating in this way. The first point is that the master's scripture says: Om Svabhava Shuddhah Sarva Dharma Svabhava Shuddho 'Ham. (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་སྭ་བྷཱ་ཝ་ཤུདྡྷཿསརྦ་དྷརྨཱཿསྭ་བྷཱ་བ་ཤུདྡྷོ྅ཧཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ स्वभाव शुद्धः सर्व धर्माः स्वभाव शुद्धोऽहम्, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: oṃ svabhāva śuddhaḥ sarva dharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho'ham, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, self-nature pure, all dharmas, self-nature pure, I.) After reciting this, one should also contemplate emptiness. Meditating on the Bodhi wheel, abiding in one's own mind, for the wisdom of a blink of an eye, recite: Om Shunyata Jnana Vajra Svabhava Atmako 'Ham. So it is said. The second point is that the meaning of this is explained in the three commentaries, including the commentary of Prajñārakṣita, that after offerings and so on, offerings and so on depend on dependent origination, believing in mind-only, meditate on the three syllables of Heruka in the crown, throat, and heart chakras of oneself. He means that all dharmas are free from cause, and likewise free from realization, and do not abide anywhere. After examining in this way, because sentient beings do not understand the nature of all dharmas, they cling to self and what belongs to self, and thus wander in samsara. Therefore, one's self becomes Heruka, how all dharmas become such a nature
