Meditating on body, speech, and mind as the Dharmakaya and Rupakaya of the Buddha is the Samaya of Vidyadhara Mantra. Then, dedicating the roots of virtue to attain Buddhahood, and cultivating compassion for sentient beings other than that, and conducting oneself in the state where all dharmas are like dreams, these three Samayas quickly ripen. These words indicate the Mantra Samaya endowed with the three Samayas, which is the Samaya of the four empowerments, and that when practicing it, one needs to remember the Samadhi of the generation stage and the completion stage. The great being Sonam Tsemo said: 'All kinds of Mudras, all kinds of Samayas.' This is explained in the previous commentary as: 'It itself is all kinds of Mudras, that is, in all directions and times. Various means different colors and shapes. Mudra is the assembly of Vajrayogini, that is, the illusory woman mentioned earlier. Combining with it itself, from all ten directions arises all kinds of Samayas, that is, stopping the conceptual thoughts of desire, etc., or for the sake of generating great bliss wisdom, that is, Sambhara. Therefore, it will become the explanation of Chakrasamvara.' And, it is explained in the later commentary as: 'All kinds, these three words summarize the deity to be meditated upon, that is, all means all directions. Various means various colors, that is, the five families. Mudra means the deity, that is, together with the consort. All means all deities. Various means the way of dwelling. Samaya means that it stops mundane conceptual thoughts. All kinds means the deities like that. The action is: accomplishing whatever one desires to accomplish.' And, in the commentary of the fourth chapter of the sixth book, it says: 'The word Samaya, above it also said the Bodhisattva's Samaya, and also said the generation stage's Samaya, then here please speak of the completion stage's Samaya.' The Bhagavan, etc., answered this question. There are two aspects to this, namely, summarizing and explaining in detail. The first part is one verse starting from 'Yogini without remainder,' etc. Here, the Samaya generally spoken of refers to the Shravaka or Bodhisattva, or the generation stage, where to hold the Samaya.

There are four things needed: the place, the nature to be guarded, the method of guarding, and the person who possesses the guarding. For example, if one dwells in the Hearer Vehicle, it is like dwelling in a forest, etc.; if one dwells on the basis of the Sarvastivada school, etc.; guarding the aspects that are not in accordance with one's own nature; guarding the many as one; and guarding through the bliss of one's own nature. Among these, the first is: guarding against the non-virtues of body and speech, which are the seven vows of individual liberation. Guarding the many as one is guarding all the inconceivable precepts as two hundred and fifty-three vows, etc. Guarding for the sake of the asceticism and bliss of those who share the same nature. By what method does one guard? One guards by means of supplication and the four karmas, etc. The person who possesses the guarding is a monk, etc. Similarly, one should understand this in relation to the Bodhisattva and the generation stage as well. If one applies this to the completion stage here, then the place is the body and the chakras of the channels. Of the three aspects of one's own nature, if one considers guarding against the aspects that are not in accordance, then it is guarding against all signs and concepts. If one considers guarding the many as one, then it is gathering all the phenomena of samsara and nirvana into this body through the means of conformity with the Dharma. Furthermore, one guards through the bliss of self-arisen wisdom. By what method does one guard? It is the method of blazing and dripping, the meaning of which can be understood from below by implication. The person who possesses the guarding is that all sentient beings are monks or Buddhas. Therefore, this is the meaning of "how one abides externally, analyze internally." These words clearly show the meaning and terminology of the guarding of the generation and completion stages, and show that the four or five aspects such as the place should also be applied to the guarding of the Bodhisattva and the generation stage. The venerable Jetsun Rinpoche Drakpa Gyaltsen said, "From the path of Indrabuti, the qualities arising from practice are: one also possesses the vows of individual liberation that are preceded by the Three Refuges; having generated the aspiring and engaging mind of enlightenment, one also possesses the precepts of the Bodhisattva; having perfected the four empowerments, one also possesses the guarding of the Vajrayana; having heard many tantras and instructions, one is someone who has perfected hearing and contemplation." And, "From the path of Dombhibi, the body is not consumed because it possesses three guardings, namely individual liberation and the Bodhisattva.
