. That is for the sake of being immortal and stable. For the sake of being harmless and peaceful from the diseases of subtle imprints. Because of the uncontaminated manifest intention. Youth is eternal, so there is no aging. It is said so. Therefore, the four maras also have two categories. From the perspective of the first, it is abandoned from the first ground, but from the perspective of the latter, it is abandoned only in the Buddha ground, in order to clarify this reason. Because abandoning the Mara of death requires abandoning the death of inconceivable transformation. How is this known? In the chapter on Bodhi, it is said that the first of the three causes of the Dharmakaya is to conquer the Mara of death. In the detailed explanation there, it is said that one obtains the place of immortal peace, because there is no wandering of the Mara of death. This is how it is known. The Teacher conquered the Mara of the son of the gods at night, conquered the Mara of afflictions at dawn, conquered the Mara of the Lord of Death when blessing the life force in Vaishali, and conquered the Mara of the aggregates when passing into Nirvana in Kushinagar, the Vaibhashikas say. That is what he himself said, in autumn and Vaisakha at Bodhi, all on one meditation cushion. It is from this point of view. The Mahayana practitioners think that, as it is said in "The Sugatas are all in all directions, in the Buddha lands of the Buddha fields," etc., those are all manifestations for taming the beings to be tamed, not their own continuums. Nowadays, some wise men who hold the scriptures also make other explanations about the boundaries of abandoning the four maras in the Mahayana path, but there does not seem to be clear scriptural basis. This great being said that the Maras were subdued at the end of the ten grounds, which is consistent with the views of the two great previous treatises, so it can be believed that there is no error in explaining the scriptures. You are still saying that you are accumulating contaminated dharmas, but that does not seem to be the source of accumulating contaminated dharmas. 71) Regarding the fact that non-Buddhists do not have the merit of arising from vows, why do the Shastras explain the vows of meditation to non-Buddhists? The answer is: Non-Buddhists do not have vows. The meaning of this sentence is that, depending on the occasion, there are no vows that can be transformed into the cause of Bodhi, which is clearly stated in the scriptures themselves. Depending on the occasion

If you criticize based solely on the literal meaning, then most treatises would have to be rejected. For example, regarding the statement "everything is an Arhat," if everything is an Arhat, then even a pot would become an Arhat. Also, regarding the statement "except for one person, namely Ananda," if you say "except for one person," it is an unrestrictive negation, so how would Ananda be established? Etc., this is similar to those statements. 72) In the empowerment of the lower tantras, it is asked: Have you received the vows of mantra? If you have, then how is it said that the four empowerments and the vows of mantra are to be received? The answer is: Just like in the ritual of upasaka and sramanera, it is asked: Have you received the vows of individual liberation? If you have, then how is it said that the four karmas and the vows of individual liberation are to be received? Ask back in this way, and whatever reasoning the other person gives, seize that reasoning and chase them wherever they go in the four continents, from the golden ground below to the Brahma world above, chase them and defeat the enemy. 73) The so-called "vow of the completion stage," although it can be obtained through the power of meditation, it is not said to be obtained from the empowerment ritual. The answer is: This is not in the literal text of the root treatise. It seems that the question is being asked based on the meaning being obtained and being my own doctrine. In general, saying "it is not said" and "it is not explained" should be said based on understanding the situation, and should not be said arbitrarily. The root tantra *Two Examinations* says: The vows of all Buddhas are, (Tibetan: ཨེ་ཝྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: एवं, Sanskrit Romanization: evaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: thus), completely abide in (Tibetan: ཨེ་ཝྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: एवं, Sanskrit Romanization: evaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: thus), (Tibetan: ཨེ་ཝྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: एवं, Sanskrit Romanization: evaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: thus) is great bliss, and is truly known from empowerment. Regarding the meaning of the vows that are said, which Tibetan and Indian commentator does not explain it as the vow of the completion stage? In that chapter, in that section, is there a situation where it is not explained as the vow of the completion stage? Please think carefully. We think that the vow obtained from empowerment, protecting it and making it grow, is called meditation. Those who follow this view think that in the stage of the path, the vow of meditation must be obtained at the time of empowerment, which is a characteristic. 74) If you think that the mantra vows of the lower tantras do not exist, then what is this statement "If the empowerment is not connected with the vows, even if it is good, it is paramita" referring to? The answer is: Tea bricks from China
