Furthermore, it also elucidates this kind of skillful wisdom of the Great Vehicle, that is, one who is skilled in skillful wisdom, a Bodhisattva can initially attain the Samadhi called 'Not Forgetting the Mind of Enlightenment,' and can also firmly abide in the Great Vehicle. And so on. Second, the method of pacifying the remaining downfalls, as stated in the 'Bodhicharyavatara': 'Three times each day and night, one should recite the Sutra of the Three Heaps, relying on the Victorious Ones and the Mind of Enlightenment, thereby purifying the remaining sins.' As it is said, reciting the Sutra of the Three Heaps six times day and night, and firmly cultivating the Mind of Enlightenment day and night, etc., confessing through these methods. In addition, confessing through the method of possessing the four powers. Similarly, confessing through reciting the Hundred Syllable Mantra, etc. Second, the remedy according to the Mind-Only school, as stated in the 'Twenty Verses': 'The vows should be retaken, medium sins to three, remaining sins to one, with or without affliction, like one's own mind.' The meaning of what is said is, if one has engaged in the four defeats like extremely strong entanglements, then one abandons the vows and should retake them in the presence of a holder of vows or a deity. If one has engaged in the four defeats like medium entanglements, then one should confess in the presence of three holders of vows. If one has engaged in the four defeats like slight entanglements, then one should confess in the presence of one holder of vows. The remaining, with affliction and without affliction, such as not making offerings to the Three Jewels, etc., these forty-two misdeeds, if conditions permit, then one should confess in the presence of one holder of vows, and if conditions do not permit, then like one's own mind, taking one's own mind as a witness and confessing, this is its meaning. Among them, the holder of vows who is the object of confession is said to be either the vows of the Hearers or any vehicle of the Bodhisattvas. Affliction means engaging in disrespect, negligence, and laziness, and without affliction means engaging in forgetfulness, this is what is said in the 'Yogacarabhumi-sastra.' The difference between slight, medium, and strong entanglements has already been explained above. Third, there are two ways to remedy the broken Mantrayana vows: if a fundamental downfall with complete limbs has occurred, then one should properly retake the vows.

If an incomplete root downfall occurs, the method of recovering from the downfall. First, the venerable one said in "Eliminating Errors of Root Downfalls," if a complete root downfall occurs, one must take vows again in the presence of the Vajra Master. As the First Vow says: If a root downfall occurs, again in this mandala, enter as a cause of purification. Having received permission again, when entering the assembly, the name of the elder is the younger. Also, in the treatise on the fourteen root downfalls, it says: Starting from taking refuge in the Three Jewels, vows such as Bodhicitta, if you want to benefit yourself, the mantra practitioner should strive to uphold them. Also, in the Samputa, it says: By breaking vows, the yogi will be born without restraint. Also, having taken the Bodhisattva vows, one should uphold the vows without forgetting them later. Therefore, he is endowed with all vows and should abide in the yoga of mudras. Furthermore, other flawless teachings and treatises say that if a complete root downfall occurs, one should take vows again. Some answers from great accomplished masters say that if the Vajra Master is not available, one should first confess by reciting the Hundred Syllable Mantra and so on until there are no signs of purification of sins. When signs appear, if one draws a mandala of colored powders properly and takes self-initiation, there are also cases of vows being restored. Some lamas believe that if the first root downfall, which is the root downfall of slandering the Vajra Master, occurs, one must take vows again by requesting empowerment. Because it is not related to the practice of mantra and merely receiving the mantra vows, even performing self-initiation will not restore them. I think like this: If the person who is the basis does not know the method of practicing mantra and has not done any practice at all, but has only received the mantra vows through empowerment, then when he has a root downfall, he must take vows again, because he is not related to the practice of mantra and has only received the mantra vows. If he is well-versed in the method of practice and practices regularly, then when he has a downfall, he himself
