May all be auspicious! The precepts for novice monks are the six root precepts and the six corresponding precepts, all summarized. As stated in the 'Extensive Commentary': 'Do not walk alone on the road, do not swim across the river, do not become attached to men, do not stay with men, do not do things that cause contempt, do not hide faults.' And: 'Do not take gold, do not shave pubic hair, do not dig the earth, do not cut green shoots, do not eat what has not been given, do not eat what has been hoarded.' These are the things that are said. The precepts for monks are the four defeats, the thirteen remainders, the thirty relinquishments, the ninety single falls, the four confessions, and the abandonment of one hundred and twelve misdeeds, totaling two hundred and fifty-three. For nuns, there are: eight defeats, twenty remainders, and thirty-three relinquishments, in addition to one hundred and eighty single falls, eleven confessions, and the training in the remaining precepts, the practice of peace is the same as for monks. So it is said. The training in the remaining precepts is: in addition to the one hundred and twelve for monks, add not wearing the lower garment to reveal the waist, and developing attachment and not going to other homes, totaling three hundred and sixty-two. Second, the precepts of the Great Vehicle Pratimoksha, in terms of common rituals, one should protect the Pratimoksha that one has taken, as in the Hearer Vehicle, unless there is a special reason to prohibit it. Because, violating the rules of the two vows without necessity is considered a downfall in the Vajrayana. If there is a special need, such as to benefit sentient beings, then all faults of body and speech are allowed. As it says in the 'Bodhicharyavatara': 'Those with compassion, with far-seeing eyes, allow even what was previously forbidden.' And in the 'Twenty Verses on Vows': 'With compassion and love, a good intention has no fault.' So it is said. In terms of uncommon rituals, taking the purification oneself is no different from the vows and protections of the Upavasatha. Second, there are two types of Bodhisattva vows:

The root downfalls are explained separately, and whether or not to abandon the vows after a root downfall has occurred is examined. The first part is divided into two parts: "head" and "mind." First, the precepts of the Madhyamaka school are also divided into three types: for those of sharp faculties, they are divided into fourteen types; for those of medium faculties, they are shown as four types; and for those of dull faculties, they are shown as one type. The first is: as stated in the Sutra of Akashagarbha, in the Compendium of Trainings, what is shown in verses is: Stealing the property of the Three Jewels, is considered a downfall of defeat. Abandoning the supreme Dharma, this is the second that the Buddha spoke of. For a monk with lax discipline, depriving him of his robes, beating him, forcing him into a place of diligence, causing him to disrobe, and taking his life is the third. Committing the five inexpiable sins, and holding wrong views, these are five for a king. For a minister, in addition to the first four, destroying towns and so on, the Buddha said that this is also a root downfall. This is the fifth. For a beginner, there are eight: For sentient beings who have not been tamed, teaching emptiness, preventing those who have entered the Buddha's path, preventing perfect enlightenment, completely abandoning individual liberation, associating with the Great Vehicle, and thinking that those who study the Vehicle should not abandon attachment and so on. Holding on to it themselves, and causing others to hold on to it, proclaiming their own qualities, for the sake of gain and respect, slandering others for the sake of verses, claiming to have profound patience, speaking falsely, cutting off practitioners with punishment, giving away the property of the Three Jewels, preventing others from giving, abandoning calm abiding, and giving to those who enjoy lawful wealth and recite scriptures. These are all root downfalls, which are the cause of sentient beings falling into the great hells. One should confess in a dream before the noble Akashagarbha. Thus it is said. These first four for a king, and the first four for a minister, because the downfalls are the same, are fourteen from the perspective of the essence. Dividing them into eighteen is from the perspective of the basis. There are also cases where the five inexpiable sins are counted separately, resulting in twenty-two. So, those that are divided into eighteen from the perspective of the basis,
