The ritual for obtaining what is to be obtained, the instruction for guarding against losing what has been obtained, the manner of restoring what has been lost, the manner of abiding and relinquishing vows, and the manner in which a person with three qualities practices the three vows. The first has two parts: the nature of each of the three vows, and the manner of establishing each one with five aspects. The first has three parts: first, the Pratimoksha, refuting other systems, establishing one's own system, and abandoning disputes. The first is: According to the Vaibhashika school, the Pratimoksha vow is by nature included in form that is revealing and non-revealing, connected like a rope to a person and their attainment, and is considered to last as long as life and have a limit of day and night. As the Treasury states: "Named revealing, non-revealing, three, vow, non-vow, and other, the vow is called Pratimoksha." This speaks of non-revealing form, and also speaks of the initial revealing and non-revealing form, "Pratimoksha" is also said to be revealing. It also says: "For as long as life and day and night, one should properly take the vow." So it is said. The Kadampa school, some Tibetans, even in the context of the Mahayana, also consider the eight classes of Pratimoksha to be form, like the Vaibhashikas. The reason for this is that it arises from one's own immediate body and speech, and one must take it with the ritual described in the Vaibhashika scriptures, and the Vaibhashikas believe that what arises from that is form. Similarly, the Mahayana Pratimoksha taken according to the Sravaka school's ritual is also form, because it arises from that ritual. If one accepts the Pratimoksha vow as mind, then the statement that "the Pratimoksha vow, because it arises from mind, is not form, therefore as long as the mind is not destroyed, there is a vow" would also apply to oneself, because one has accepted the Pratimoksha vow as mind. Therefore, if it is a Pratimoksha vow, it is necessarily form. If it is a Bodhisattva vow, it is necessarily mind, so it is said. This is not correct, because the Pratimoksha vow arising from the immediate body and speech contradicts the acceptance of it as non-revealing form, because body and speech are changing phenomena, and non-revealing form is accepted as arising from one's own immediate elements, the four great elements.

Because it has been said "transformed." Therefore, the Bodhisattva vows arising from the Yogacara school's ritual should become truly existent. Because it arises from the Yogacara school's ritual, and the Yogacara school believes that the Bodhisattva vows arise as truly existent from that ritual. The seven types of Pratimoksha vows mentioned in the chapter on Bodhisattva's Ethics should also become form, because they are Pratimoksha vows. If you accept that, then the ethics of abandoning misconduct mentioned therein should also become form. Therefore, this is pervasive. As stated in the chapter on Ethics: Ethics, in brief, is of three types: the ethics of discipline, the ethics of gathering virtuous dharmas, and the ethics of benefiting sentient beings. Among these, the Bodhisattva's ethics of discipline are the seven types of Pratimoksha vows that are properly taken, namely the ethics of Bhikshu, Bhikshuni, Shikshamana, Shramanera, Shramanerika, Upasaka, and Upasika. Thus it is said. If you accept the above, then the ethics of gathering virtuous dharmas and benefiting sentient beings should also become form, because you accept it. If you accept that, then it should become mind, because it is a Bodhisattva vow. The pervasiveness has been accepted. If you accept "Because it arises from mind, it is not form" literally, then "The two obscurations of affliction and knowledge, because they arise from mind, are not form. Therefore, as long as the mind is not destroyed, the obscurations exist" will also apply to you, because the two obscurations are established on the mind. If you say that, what is the answer? What is its meaning then? The Bodhisattva vows arise from the commitment made as long as the mind exists, therefore, as long as the mind is not destroyed, the vows exist. To this, the Vaibhashika school believes that if it is a vow, it must be form, therefore it is abandoned when the body is destroyed. No, because it is not accepted as form. In the context of the Mahayana, let alone whether the vows are non-revealing form, if even non-revealing form itself is accepted, then for whom is the Vaibhashika's argument "Saying the three immaculate forms, because of growth and unmade paths, etc."
