They cut off listening and thinking about the Abhidhamma Pitaka, and the virtuous deeds of body and speech. A few, such as Pal Yang and Ba Ratna, practiced the Abbot's Dharma. The Tsenpo said that the Chinese teacher's doctrine did not seem to be the real Dharma, so it was called non-Dharma. The sage Zodpa set his own body on fire in Chimphu and offered it to the Three Jewels. He said that it was important to accumulate merit like this, without cherishing oneself for the sake of sentient beings, so it was called non-compassionate. The Tsenpo said that the Dharma that combines view and practice should be treated as non-compassionate, so those who were non-Dharma were disappointed. The Heshang set his own head on fire, so he was called the Chinese Firehead. After that, the king felt unwell, so he sent for Ba Yeshe Wangpo and brought him. When he met and spoke with the Tsenpo, he took out the Abbot's testament written on a copper plate in the treasury and offered it to the Tsenpo. Then, he sent for Kamalashila, who came to Samye and set up a throne in Jangchub Ling. The Tsenpo sat in the middle, the Heshang sat on the right, and attendants such as Bande Lanka and Jomo Jangchub lined up in a long row. Master Kamalashila sat on the left, and a few attendants such as Vairochana came. Lhatsenpo handed each of them a garland of white flowers and said: Whoever loses the debate, the loser should offer the flowers. Under my rule, in the time when black Dharma was favored, Bodhisattva, the son of King Zahor, was invited, and a few Tibetans were placed in the Holy Dharma. When believers ordained and established the supports of the Three Jewels and made offerings, the Chinese Heshang Mahayana came, and most of the Tibetan monks became his disciples. A few disciples of Bodhisattva, because they could not persuade them, split into two factions, sudden and gradual, and began to argue. Kamalashila is a follower of the Bodhisattva's Dharma, so you two should not be arrogant, and in the Dharma, the bad side should respect the good side. After saying this, the Heshang said: The basis exists in the beginning, so one should ask or answer. Master Kamalashila said: Please debate according to your thoughts. The Heshang said: The influence of good and bad karma leads to the results of good and bad realms.

All beings who wander in samsara are produced by the mind's conceptual thoughts. If one does not think of anything and does not do anything, one will be liberated from samsara. Therefore, one should not think of anything. Practicing white dharma such as generosity is taught to those who are dull-witted, who lack the karmic connection of white deeds, and whose faculties are dull. For those with sharp faculties who have previously trained their minds, just as the sun is obscured by white or black clouds, they are obscured by both virtuous and non-virtuous actions, so they do not think of anything, do not conceptualize anything, and do not do anything. This is called non-objectification. This is like the path of sudden entry, similar to the tenth bhumi. Therefore, your doctrine is like a monkey climbing a tree, called gradual. Our doctrine is like a garuda descending from the sky to the top of a tree, called descending from above and sudden. They said that. To this, the teacher refuted the example and the meaning. First, refuting the example, your example is not appropriate. Does the garuda suddenly grow complete wings from the sky and descend to the top of the tree? Or does it build a nest on a rock and gradually grow wings and then descend to the top of the tree? The former is impossible, and if it is like the latter, it becomes an example of gradualness, and cannot be an example of suddenness. At that time, the Chinese monk did not answer the example and refuted the meaning, your example is not only wrong, but the meaning is also confused. Is meditating on non-conceptualization merely blocking one aspect of conceptualization? Or blocking all conceptualization? If it is like the former, then sleep and fainting, etc., also become meditating on non-conceptualization, because only one aspect of conceptualization is blocked. If all conceptualization must be blocked, then when you meditate on non-conceptualization, do you need to generate the thought of meditating on non-conceptualization beforehand? If you need to, then that thought itself is conceptualization, so the vow to meditate on non-conceptualization is broken. If you do not need to, then all sentient beings of the three realms will generate meditation, because meditation will arise even without generating the thought of meditating beforehand. After refuting in this way with scriptures and reasoning, the Chinese monk became speechless. The king said: If there is an answer, speak now. The monk said: Like being struck on the head, I do not know how to answer. Then the king said to the teacher:
