The events unfolded as follows: The predictions and instructions made by Khenpo Bodhisattva, also known as the Bodhisattva Śāntarakṣita, to King Trisong Detsen came to pass. Previously, Dharma King Songtsen Gampo had prophesied: "From now, five generations later, a king with the name 'De' will arise. He will cause the root of the Buddha's teachings to be ordained and establish a monastic community that holds the saffron robes. At that time, my descendants and subjects should offer great worship and respect, so that happiness in this life and the next will come." This prophecy was written by Minister Gar on a copper plate and stored in the treasury. As the prophecy stated, Trisong Detsen was born in the Iron Male Horse year. At the age of thirteen, he ascended the throne in the Water Male Horse year and sent Minister Ba Salnang to invite the Khenpo. After the Khenpo arrived in Mangyul Kyirong, he met and invited him, holding a grand welcoming ceremony. The Dharma King asked during the meeting, "Do you remember your previous aspirations?" He asked three times. The Khenpo replied, "I vaguely remember, but because the meditation time has been too long, it is not very clear." The Khenpo said, "On the banks of the Ganges River, there was a large stupa, which I repaired with devotion, and performed prostrations and circumambulations. King, you will become a king in a remote area, where the sacred Dharma has not yet spread, and vowed to spread the Buddha's teachings. And I vowed to become a Khenpo at that time." This content comes from the Ba Zhé. Some documents record that Padmasambhava vowed to become a mantra holder who subdues evil spirits, and Yeshe Wangpo vowed to become the messenger of invitation. It is said that at that time, some Tibetans suspected that he had been cursed by foreigners. The Kashmiri Ananda translated and carefully examined it, saying, "He is a good Bodhisattva and has no evil thoughts." Therefore, he was known as Bodhisattva. This great disciplinarian was born into the family of the King of Zahor in the east. At Nalanda Monastery, he was ordained from the Vinaya lineage of Khenpo Yeshe Nyingpo of the Sarvastivada school, and was proficient in

He became learned in those. He served as abbot in Nalanda and defeated all evil opponents, so that his fame as a scholar spread throughout Jambudvipa. A Brahmin's son from the south, who was extremely learned in the heretical Vedas, defeated all internal and external opponents. Filled with the fame of his reputation, he thought that if he went to Nalanda and defeated the abbot, he would become unrivaled. Then he gradually went to the abbot's residence. When he looked, the abbot was not visible, but he saw an image of Manjushri, blazing like the color of pure gold. When he came out and asked others, they said that the abbot was there. When he returned and looked again, as soon as he saw the abbot's face, he became very devoted. Abandoning the thought of debate, he respectfully took the abbot's feet to his crown and entered the gate of the teachings. In short, this accomplished and virtuous practitioner of Manjushri stayed in Nalanda for a long time. In eastern India and China, he excellently maintained the Buddha's teachings for seven hundred years. Then, through the power of his past aspirations, he came to Tibet and fulfilled the wishes of the great Dharma King. Before passing away, he said to the king, "If you want many ordained monks in your kingdom, place my body to the east of Haspo Hill (Iron Hill), facing east. If you want only a few pure ordained monks, place it to the west. No external heretics will appear in your kingdom, because the mantra holder Padmasambhava has entrusted the teachings to the twelve bstan ma (the twelve steadfast goddesses), the leaders of the mamo (wrathful goddesses), and vowed to protect them." The way in which the master Padmasambhava came to Tibet was as follows: The abbot Bodhisattva spoke the ten virtues to the Dharma King and his ministers, and established the tradition of abandoning evil and practicing virtue, so the non-humans (spirits) of Tibet were disturbed. In Yarlung Phangthang (now Shannan area), Shampo destroyed the temple built by Mesagtsom by flooding it with water. On the top of Marpori (Red Hill), Tanglha (a mountain god) struck down the ancestral palace with lightning. The twelve bstan ma sent incurable and severe epidemics such as hail, frost, human diseases, and livestock diseases, so the Tibetan people thought that the demons were causing trouble because they had invited the Indian acharya (Padmasambhava).
