Refuting erroneous views. The first part has three points: refuting the view of misunderstanding the symbolic handprint Mahamudra; refuting the view of misunderstanding the meaning of the symbolized Mahamudra; and incidentally refuting the erroneous views on the practice of the three vehicles. The first part has three points: refuting the view of considering the seemingly superior insight of merely contemplating emptiness as Mahamudra; refuting the view of considering the seemingly tranquil abiding of transforming the mind with devotion as Mahamudra; and incidentally refuting the wrong ideas about the cause of Mahamudra. The first part has four points: directly refuting the Mahamudra of other schools; identifying the Mahamudra of one's own school; revealing the Mahamudra of other schools as the Han Chinese school; and revealing the Mahamudra of one's own school as the Indian school. The first point is: the four verses such as "Mahamudra", most of the people who practice Mahamudra nowadays do not understand that the Mahamudra mentioned in the great yoga tantra is the self-generated wisdom arising from empowerment and wisdom, but according to the sutra, "Whatever is thought of in the mind is unwholesome. Whatever is not thought of in the mind is wholesome." and "All dharmas are without memory and inconceivable." Taking the literal meaning, they block the discriminating thoughts that spread to the external objects, and only practice the idea of stopping emptiness there. Analyzing this, if the operation of the six consciousnesses is blocked, and one cultivates to the point where there is not even a trace of awareness, it belongs to the category of near afflictions—lethargy, which is said in the sutras to be the cause of animals. If all appearances of form are blocked, without desire for form, focusing on the sky, and also blocking it, focusing on the consciousness of the subject, and also blocking it, focusing on nothing that can be grasped, and going beyond it, thinking that there are no coarse or subtle thoughts, these will gradually become the cause of rebirth in the four formless realms. A better practice than this is to block the clinging to the self of the person, and cultivate single-mindedly with the mind of renouncing samsara, and one will attain the extinction of the Hearers. Some of them think that the cessation of the Hearers is the unconscious sentient being, which clearly shows that they have not analyzed the meaning of the Dharma with subtle wisdom, because the unconscious sentient being is the cessation of the Hearers.

Since it is not mentioned anywhere, and you also consider this as the knowable that is not a Samadhi of prevention, therefore meditating on this, and establishing the meaninglessness of formless Samadhi, is self-contradictory. The unconscious beings are a distinction of the fourth Dhyana's place, appearing as a monastery more excellent than a village, this is said in the Sutra Pitaka. Meaningless Dhyana Samadhi is a place of laughter for being born in the fourth Dhyana. If that is well cultivated, also with the wisdom of individual discrimination, cutting off all the elaborations of dualistic grasping of existence and non-existence etc., and cultivating it by merging with great compassion, it will become a Madhyamaka practice. However, to accomplish that takes a long time, until the two accumulations etc. Regarding this, the Collected Sutras say: "Until those roots of virtue are not perfected, at that time one will not attain that sacred emptiness." In short, without realizing the self-arisen wisdom that arises from empowerment and the two stages, all meditations that view emptiness are all included in the four meditations mentioned above. And these four meditations are not Mahamudra. "Do not fabricate, do not fabricate, do not fabricate the mind. Fabricated Dharma does not flourish." And "In this Mahamudra Dharma, there is nothing to meditate on after meditating. Leave ordinary awareness in its own place. If it does not stay in its own place and scatters, seize what scatters." etc., in these ways, merely the meditation of stopping conceptual thoughts, all these meditations are Mahamudra, the wise who rely on the Buddha's words should abandon. The second is "Our" etc., ten sentences. The first three sentences indicate the cause, the fourth sentence indicates the nature, then two sentences indicate the time of accomplishment. Then two sentences prevent other conceptual thoughts, then two sentences indicate the prophecy of where one should enter when wanting to accomplish Mahamudra. If you want to understand these meanings in detail, you should understand them from the Tantras of the Great Yoga division, from the "Seven Limbs of Accomplishment" composed by the accomplished masters who have realized the ultimate meaning. The third is, the current "Mahamudra" etc., a total of ten and a half verses. This kind of erroneous Dharma of the Chinese Heshang
