It should also be viewed in this way. Regarding this, there is a saying: For example, placing a golden necklace on the head of a corpse, or placing a garland of flowers, similarly, one should abandon those who wear robes without discipline, seeing them will not generate faith in the mind. As quoted in the Sutra of Blazing Reasoning: If one wears robes but does not abandon the faults of the mind, holding a begging bowl in hand but not becoming a vessel of merit, shaving hair and beard but not entering the ranks of the Shramanas, even if one has renounced, one has not escaped from all things. Such a Shramana is neither a Shramana nor a householder, he is like a well without water, like a butter lamp in a painting. As it says in the Sutra of Great Love for Monks: Just as a good tree, over a long time, grows branches and leaves, if one only holds the external appearance for a long time, then unspeakable words and sins will increase. As it says in the Collection of Special Topics: Rather than holding the banner of the Sugata, it is better to be a householder who has abandoned the form. Thus it is proclaimed. If it is not so, for asceticism, if there is virtue in nature, then like the five hundred monks mentioned above, even without discipline, it is renunciation, etc. Here, it is said that there is no virtue in asceticism, meaning that actions like refraining from killing, regardless of discipline, will not produce virtue no matter who does them. This does not mean that there is no virtue in having discipline, for example, violating discipline itself does not have inherent non-virtue, but for those who have discipline, it will produce non-virtue. Second, refuting the view that the maker of happiness and suffering is the Buddha, there are two aspects to this: stating the former view and refuting it. The first point is the six sentences beginning with "Regarding this, some people," the former view has already been stated above. The second point has two aspects: answering the accusation and the real answer. The first point is the five sentences beginning with "Regarding this answer," you, like some Samkhya heretics, will become those who claim that nature is the main cause, because you believe that there is good and evil in nature. The second point has three aspects: generally, the reason for taking vows, the reason for taking different vows, and the meaning established by this. The first point is: "Second, the things" and thirteen sentences, only the perfect Buddha takes vows, and there is a reason for this, because there is good and

Even without sin, happiness and suffering are caused by karma, and the author of karma is the mind. The method of distinguishing between good and bad thoughts is discipline. The established asceticism is the method of guarding discipline, therefore, for discipline, what kind of asceticism is needed, only the perfect Buddha knows. Happiness and suffering are caused by karma, and it has been established that the author of karma is the mind. The power of the mind's virtue and non-virtue causes the good and bad of karma. The good and bad of karma cause the result of happiness and suffering. The second is "Therefore, thinking," etc., five points. There is a reason why the perfect Buddha established different precepts for each of the five categories of renunciants. The method of distinguishing between good and bad thoughts is discipline, therefore, due to the difference in the afflictions of thought, as an antidote to these afflictions, the difference in discipline includes novice vows and bhikkhu vows, etc. There are many. In order to guard these disciplines, as a method, asceticism and the precepts of the Vinaya differ, and the reason is like this. The third is "Therefore, happiness," etc., one verse. The author of happiness and suffering is not the Buddha, but the author of vowing to learn and practicing mantras is the Buddha, so it is said. Happiness and suffering arise from the mind, and due to the difference in the mind, there are many different disciplines. In order to guard these disciplines, many different precepts are needed, and only the Buddha knows this. Third, the method of how to practice the correct permission and prohibition is: "With holes," etc., eight verses and two lines of poetry. The others are easy to understand. "Hand fish" refers to food that has not been given and received. If a bhikkhu eats it after being touched by himself or others, he will commit a downfall. "Western room" refers to someone who has not received full ordination and someone who practices the six dharmas sleeping in the same place. If they sleep until the end of the third night, they will commit a downfall. Fourth, there are three points to correct the errors of separate practice: advising to practice correct practice, the situation of erroneous practice occurring, and pointing out the harm to it. The first is: "Sutra exhortation," etc., two points, exhorting the sutras in the center of the sangha, and the number of the sun.
