I and so on, three verses, because they are all prohibitive. The second is one verse, "Yoga Ishvara" and so on. The third is one verse, "Of sandalwood incense" and so on, from the Sutra Requested by Jewel Peak in the Jewel Heap. In the past, immeasurable and countless kalpas ago, there was an even more immeasurable, vast, boundless, and inconceivable time. At that time, in the kalpa called "Joyful," in the world called "The Gods' Observation," the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, Sugata, Knower of the World, Tamer of Beings, Teacher of Gods and Humans, Buddha, Bhagavan, named "All Worlds Manifest Joy," appeared in the world. From "All the people of that world wear golden crowns, adorned with armlets and earrings, possessing the color and form of gods" to "All who are free from defilements are the renunciates of those worlds. The Bhagavan Tathagata did not sew robes for the Bodhisattvas, because their minds are without impurity." Thus it is said. The fourth is one verse, "Upasaka, Shramanera" and so on. The fifth is two verses, "Which such" and so on, that is, the arising of sins of what is prescribed for what is not prescribed, which such and so on. The second has three: the actual meaning, the proof of knowledge, and the way of establishing it with reason. The first is therefore two verses, such as "Therefore, in the Sutra" and so on. The reason why the Sutra says that there is neither good nor evil regardless of what has been prescribed for the discipline of renunciation is that the Five Buddhas and the Eight Close Sons and so on, mentioned above, do not have the discipline of renunciation, but they have no sin, and those who break the precepts, even if they hold the discipline, have no virtue. If so, is discipline not necessary? Like a field's net, it is only said to be the cause of respecting the Pratimoksha vows. In the "Vinaya Praise" it is said: Fence

Like ditches and abysses, it subdues the flood of all defilements. Therefore, since there are two faults, one should uphold the precepts that include being separated from desire, and naturally abandon sins, being separated from non-virtuous dharmas, as the Buddha said. Understand it as the Buddha intended, otherwise, separation would only become one. The second is about thirteen cases such as "Golden Top Girl." The sutra records that there was a very beautiful woman named Golden Top Light, and two merchants' sons were enjoying worldly pleasures in the garden. Manjushri knew that the time for taming had come, so he manifested the merchant's son as dead, and impure things flowed from the senses. The servants of the merchant's son were worried that the woman would be punished, and they felt a little weary of samsara, so they asked Manjushri to ordain them. Manjushri said, "Ordaining the body does not save from fear, one must ordain the mind." The Manjushri Play Sutra records that the prostitute Golden Top Light and the merchant's son Fearless rode in a chariot decorated with heavenly jewels, captivating all the men in the city. At this time, the Holy Manjushri manifested an extremely beautiful body, tamed the woman, and taught her the Dharma. She obtained forbearance, touched Manjushri's feet, and asked to be ordained. Manjushri said, "Sister, shaving the head is not the ordination of a Bodhisattva. Why? Because the woman who strives to cut off the afflictions of all sentient beings is the ordination of a Bodhisattva. The woman who wears a kasaya is not the ordination of a Bodhisattva. The woman who upholds the precepts herself, and also enables sentient beings who break the precepts to uphold the precepts and asceticism, is the ordination of a Bodhisattva." So it is said in the sutra. The Kashyapa Chapter of the Ratnakuta Sutra records that when this teaching is taught, the monks

Five hundred yogis, because we have not completely purified the precepts, it is not permissible to enjoy the offerings of faith, thus retreating and returning to lay life. To this, other monks said: It is very bad that the great virtuous monks, the yogis, have retreated from the teachings. The Blessed One said to the monks: Monks, do not say that it is very bad that these great virtuous monks have retreated from the teachings in this way. What is the reason for this? Monks, because they are not happy, living at home is the dharma of those with faith. Monks, these monks with much faith and interest, with regret, after hearing this teaching, think that we have not completely purified the precepts, and it is not permissible to enjoy the offerings of faith, thus retreating. Kashyapa, I prophesy that these monks, after dying from here, will be reborn in the heavenly realm of Tushita, and they will be among the first assembly of Shravaka disciples of Maitreya Buddha. In the Sutra Requested by Maitreya's Lion's Roar, it is also said that after Maitreya announced the lion's roar of frugal resources, five hundred monks from the retinue realized that they did not have the merit of frugal resources and that it was difficult to enjoy the offerings of faith, so they returned to lay life. Manjushri praised them, saying: Well done! For those who are unwilling to enjoy the offerings of faith, they should be so cautious and regretful. Etc., by expounding these dharmas, the five hundred monks did not accept, and their minds were liberated from afflictions. So it is said. The third is, therefore, the vows, etc., two verses. Therefore, the precepts of the vows themselves are good, but the monastic appearance as a means of guarding them, without relying on the precepts, has no inherent goodness, because all appearances without vows are prohibited by the sutras and treatises. This is also said in the Kashyapa's Questions chapter: Kashyapa, just as wearing a gold necklace on the head of a corpse, a person with broken precepts wears a kasaya.
