It is said that there was a sage who was well-versed in the Vedas and had many Brahmin disciples. One sage gradually lured away the disciples of the other sage, and despite repeated dissuasion, he did not listen, causing the other sage to become furious and vow, "I will also lure away your disciples when you attain enlightenment." Therefore, now Devadatta (Lhas Byin) is disrupting the harmony of the Sangha. This is to reveal the meaning of straightforwardness, that is, the faults of creating division and luring away other's disciples, so it is cleverly said in this way, not as a result of the maturation of karma. Furthermore, it is said in the scriptures: In the past, a doctor repeatedly cured the illness of a householder's son, but because he did not receive payment, he thought with strong hatred: When this child gets sick again, I will give him non-medicinal things, causing his internal organs to shatter and die. Due to the remaining karma of doing so, even now the Bhagavan still suffers from dysentery. Also, a fisherman's son, who rejoiced in killing fish, due to the maturation of karma, suffered from brain disease for many years, and now also due to the remaining karma, when the noble ones killed the Shakyas, the Bhagavan also suffered from severe brain disease. And so on, these are all stories about the Buddha's previous lives. The so-called "Do not rely on the straightforward meaning" is said in the Bodhisattva Treasury of the Ratnakuta Sutra: What is the wise reliance of a Bodhisattva? There are four reliances of a Bodhisattva, what are the four? They are: Rely on the meaning, not on the words; rely on wisdom, not on consciousness; rely on the sutras of definitive meaning, not on the sutras of provisional meaning; rely on the Dharma, not on the person. Among them, wisdom and consciousness refer to transcending the world and not transcending the world; words refer to the literal meaning; meaning refers to what is established through reasoning; person refers to elders, etc.; Dharma refers to the scriptures, this is what Abhayakara said. The second part is divided into two points: establishing three refutations, and explaining the latter in detail. The first point is: If the five sentences such as "If perfect," if it is said that the maturation of bad karma for the Buddha is the true definitive meaning, then the accumulation of merit has perfected all qualities,
