This is an instruction on the key points of the karmic results of the Great and Small Vehicles. The first part is, therefore, there are eleven aspects such as dedication, etc. The Dharmadhatu is neither good nor evil, which has been established by both reason and scripture, therefore, etc. As stated in the Ratnavali, desire, hatred, etc. The second part is divided into two aspects: brief instruction, detailed explanation. The first part is, the virtue of the Shravakas, etc., is one verse. The second part is, in many kalpas, etc., there are four verses. The meaning of the first verse is, as stated in the Samgraha Sutra, if one practices the ten virtuous paths for many kalpas, but generates the desire to become a Shravaka, Pratyekabuddha, or Bodhi, then that is a flaw in discipline, a broken discipline. Generating Bodhicitta is even heavier than a defeat. The meaning of the second verse is, as stated in the Samgraha Sutra, if a Bodhisattva enjoys the five desirable qualities, but takes refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and thinks of attaining Buddhahood, focusing on omniscience, the wise should know that this is abiding in the realm of discipline and Paramitas. For example, the Brahmin boy Star, who guarded celibacy for many years, but abandoned his vows due to love for a merchant's daughter, and lived as a householder for twelve years, causing the cycle of ninety thousand kalpas to regress. The meaning of the third verse is, as stated in the Upayakausalya Sutra, if a son of good family fully examines, even if an ordained Bodhisattva has transcended all four root downfalls, if he purifies with skillful means, I declare that this will not become a downfall for the Bodhisattva. The meaning of the fourth verse is, as stated in the Upalipariprccha Sutra, Upali, the practice of the Shravaka Vehicle practitioners is different, and their superior intention is also different. The practice of the Bodhisattvas who have entered the Mahayana is also different, and their superior intention is also different. Upali, the completely pure discipline of the Shravaka Vehicle practitioners is the impure discipline for the Bodhisattvas who have entered the Mahayana, and even a very immoral discipline. The completely pure discipline of the Bodhisattvas who have entered the Mahayana

Whatever constitutes the discipline of the Hearer Vehicle is itself the imperfection of the Hearer Vehicle's discipline, and indeed, the very essence of corrupted discipline. Why is this so? Because, attendant, a practitioner of the Hearer Vehicle does not even for a moment take rebirth in existence. This is the very perfection of the Hearer Vehicle practitioner's discipline. However, for one who has truly entered the Great Vehicle, it is the very imperfection of discipline and the very essence of corrupted discipline. Attendant, what constitutes the very perfection of the discipline of a Bodhisattva who has truly entered the Great Vehicle? What is it that transforms into the very imperfection of the Hearer Vehicle's discipline and the very essence of corrupted discipline? Attendant, that a Bodhisattva who has truly entered the Great Vehicle takes rebirth in existence for immeasurable, countless eons, yet his mind does not become weary and his spirit does not flag, is the very perfection of the discipline of a Bodhisattva who has truly entered the Great Vehicle, and it is the very imperfection of the Hearer Vehicle's discipline and the very essence of corrupted discipline. Thus it was said. Second, refuting the view that white and black results are completely mixed up, there are two parts: stating the position and refuting it. The first is: White and black, etc., two parts. Some Drikungpas (འབྲི་ཁུང་པ་, place name) say that the so-called mixing of white and black means that even the Buddha must experience the ripening of black karma. Because in the Vajra speech of the Single Intention, it says that Devadatta threw a stone at Shakyamuni Buddha, injuring his foot. The Buddha himself said: "Wherever one dwells, there is no place where karma cannot reach. There is no place to escape karma, not in the sky, not in the depths of the ocean, not in the mountains or caves." And so on. Similarly, in the Vinaya Sutra, it says that the Teacher also had to experience the ripening of bad karma from previous lives, and all of these are definitive meanings. Therefore, white and black karma will go all the way to the state of Buddhahood. This kind of Dharma language is said to be amazing. The second part has three points: proving that the mixing of white and black is provisional, showing the harm of considering it definitive, and combining it with scriptural reasoning. The first point is: They, etc., four verses. The Teacher experiencing bad karma

Those who wish to print this are completely mistaken in taking what is said in the Vinaya Sutra as requiring interpretation, as having a definite meaning. If you wonder how it needs interpretation, like the five verses beginning with "a splinter of sandalwood pierced," each verse is paired with seven explanatory verses beginning with "In the previous life of the capable one," dividing them into five points. From the Vinaya Sutra, the manner in which evil deeds ripen is explained. Similarly, from the Great Secret Skillful Means Sutra, the manner of establishing it from the perspective of what needs interpretation will be explained from these two perspectives. First, in the Vinaya Sutra, it says: In the past, about five hundred merchants desiring wealth entered the great ocean. Among them, there was a wicked person, a thief who stole the wealth of others, who thought to himself: I will kill all these merchants, take all their possessions, and then go to Jambudvipa. At that time, the leader of the merchants, who possessed great compassion, was foretold in a dream by a deity dwelling in the ocean about all the thoughts of the black man. The leader thought to himself, these five hundred merchants are all non-returning from the path to enlightenment. If they are killed by this person, then the obscuration of his karma will cause beings to be burned in the hells for a long time. Therefore, these merchants must not be killed, and this person must not go to the great hells. What means are there? He thought in this way for seven days. Then he thought, this is the best way, and so he himself stabbed the thief with a spear, causing him to die, and all the guests successfully reached their respective cities. The leader at that time was the Teacher himself, and the five hundred merchants were the five hundred Bodhisattvas who will attain enlightenment in this Fortunate Aeon. Thus, due to the karmic consequence of killing the thief, a splinter of sandalwood pierced the foot of the Thus-Gone One, and it is said that a stream of blood flowed. Similarly, in the Skillful Means Sutra, showing it from the perspective of what needs interpretation: the splinter of sandalwood piercing the foot of the Thus-Gone One is also the skillful means of the perfect Buddha, just as in this great city of Vaishali, there are twenty final existence beings, and their
