To the place, I prostrate and pay homage to the Dharmadhatu. Thus it is said. Furthermore, it is also said that the same refers to the uninterrupted clarity of mind from sentient beings to the state of Buddhahood. As stated in the Sutra, the "Exposition of the Thought Sutra": "The taking consciousness is deep and subtle, all seeds flow like a stream of water. It is not permissible to conceive of it as self, this I have not shown to children." Thus it is said. The venerable Nagarjuna said: "Just as in the summer season, water is said to be warm, so it is said. In the cold season, it is said to be cold. When covered by the net of afflictions, it is called mind. When it is free from afflictions, it is called Buddha." Thus it is said. Furthermore, it is also said that the same is explained in terms of the Alaya-vijnana. As it is also stated in the Lankavatara Sutra: "The Tathagatagarbha Alaya-vijnana, thus proclaimed, should be purified. Great wisdom, if the Alaya-vijnana is proclaimed, if the Tathagatagarbha is non-existent, then the Tathagatagarbha Alaya-vijnana is proclaimed as non-existent. There is neither entering nor leaving, and it becomes great wisdom for children and noble ones. There is also entering and leaving. Great yogis who do not abandon diligence, I dwell in ease in this life with individual self-awareness. Thus, the Tathagatagarbha Alaya-vijnana is the realm of the Tathagata, like you, with meticulous and skillful faith, and the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who greatly opens wisdom, is also the realm of those who rely on meaning." And so on, the Tathagatagarbha is also endowed with the seven consciousnesses, and the two graspings enter greatly, and it can be extinguished by complete knowledge. Thus it is said. Another sutra says: "The various lands are all Alaya, the Sugata's essence is also virtuous. The Tathagatas have only spoken of that essence by the name of Alaya. The essence is also shown as Alaya, those of small minds do not know it." Thus it is said. The nature of mind is clear light, the Tathagatagarbha is virtuous. Thus it is said. Furthermore, the same is the mental consciousness.

There are also other explanations. In the Angulimaliya Sutra, it is also said that the "mind" in the Hearer Vehicle is the meaning of the Tathagatagarbha. What is called "mind is naturally pure" is the Tathagatagarbha. It is also said that in the same Sutra, it is also said to be the Dharmakaya. Shariputra, the Dharmakaya itself is covered by countless layers of afflictive shells, carried away by the continuum of samsara, revolving in births and deaths in the beginningless and endless samsara, this is called the realm of sentient beings. Secondly, as such, from the sutras and shastras, it is explained with many different terms, but the nature of the Tathagatagarbha itself is that it has never been interrupted from beginningless time until Buddhahood, without distinction of categories or directions such as good and non-good, with the difference of whether or not the means are grasped, it becomes the basis of all bondage and liberation, the nature of conventional means slightly appears without ceasing, if its nature is measured by the wisdom that investigates ultimate truth, then it does not establish in any extreme such as existence and non-existence, permanence and annihilation, it is the union of clarity and emptiness, or awareness and emptiness, which has not gone beyond freedom from elaboration. Therefore, the Tathagatagarbha is established on the union of clarity and emptiness, not just emptiness that abandons clarity, because that cannot be the basis of bondage and liberation. Nor is it just clarity that abandons emptiness, because that is a conditioned phenomenon, and the Tathagatagarbha is said to be unconditioned. If the union is not grasped by means, then it is the basis of the dharmas of samsara, because from the union arises conceptual thought, from conceptual thought arises affliction, from affliction accumulates karma, from karma arises all the skandhas, dhatus, and ayatanas included in samsara. As the Uttaratantra says: "Earth depends on water, water depends on wind, wind depends on space. Space does not depend on wind, water, and earth elements. Similarly, the skandhas, dhatus, and ayatanas depend on karma and affliction. Karma and affliction do not depend on proper attention, but always depend on improper attention. Improper attention depends on the purity of mind, the nature of mind, the dharmas do not depend on everything." And the Naga
