Having made it free from the stain of defilement, having cut off the burden of the matted hair, and having gone forth into ordination in your presence, thinking that when the opportunity arises to have the wealth of precious things, those who cause harm to the teachings of that Shakya king should be subdued again in the same way, he spoke these words: "Clad in the garment of the ocean, the great earth with the endless bounds of the ocean, upon this, the great gods, the plunderers, the enslavers, those who make them gods, the capable ones, the sages Star Joy and others, the proliferated anthill dwellers, and the remnants eaters, the foot-eyed ones, the followers of the yellow-robed ones, with disheveled hair, clad in tree bark and leaf garments, holding ashes, staffs, and kusha grass, holding the burden of matted hair, well-wrapped with muja grass, with the upper garment of deer skin and antelope skin, with three lines on the forehead, possessing a topknot, holding the Brahmanic thread for the sake of offering, having studied all the Vedas, skilled in reciting definitive expressions, having mastered sound and prosody, constantly looking at the view of self, constantly practicing austerities and being arrogant, such ones, the tirthikas who are like elephants intoxicated, crushing their brains, is the glorious lion of speech, possessing the strength of intelligence, possessing the claws of reason, the grammatical treatises with fully complete limbs, adorned with the matted hair of the Sugata's teachings, with the roar of Sanskrit, with the thunder of logic, with the high voice of refutation, with the glaring eyes of rebuttal, such a king of beasts, dwells in the snowy mountains of glorious Sakya (Sakya Monastery, established in 1073), protects the herd of the intelligent, destroys the pack of evil opponents, and may he continue to subdue the tirthikas, having defeated all with the Dharma, may he hold the victory banner of the Sugata's teachings!" Having said this, he cut off his burden of matted hair and went forth into ordination, and those matted hairs are still present in the temple of glorious Sakya (Sakya Monastery, established in 1073). Third, the way of spreading the teachings through writing: As it is said: "Through the practice in other lifetimes, and through relying on many wise ones, and through the intelligence of discernment, one obtains fearlessness in all that is to be known." Thus, having gained the fearless confidence in all that is to be known, in order to show the path of liberation to the disciples of the future, he also composed many treatises explaining the intention of the Sugata's scriptures, such as the treatise on grammar, "The Door to Entering the Wise," and "A Brief Compilation of Grammar," and so on, and the treatise on prosody, "A Garland of Flowers," and so on.
