Therefore, there is reason to call it the dominant condition, because under the influence of ignorance, the mental factors that arise together with it manifestly create objects. The meaning of "as appropriate" is: consciousness acts as all four conditions for consciousness, and when it acts as a condition for material phenomena, it is only the dominant condition. When material phenomena act as a condition for material phenomena, they act as both the co-arising condition and the dominant condition. When material phenomena act as a condition for consciousness, they act as both the objective condition and the dominant condition. These are also said without distinguishing between the real and the imputed. If distinguished, when ignorance acts as a condition for action, the first three are imputed, and only the last one is the defining characteristic. Furthermore, in the "Basic Section of the Grounds," it is said that it is impossible for the former of the twelve links to act as the co-arising condition for the latter, because the meaning of the co-arising condition is that each seed gives rise to its own separate entity. Therefore, the meaning of saying "only the dominant condition" refers to the defining characteristic of the co-arising condition. According to this school's view, if the co-arising condition is a defining characteristic, then it must be the respective seeds on the Alaya consciousness, but the twelve links are not seeds on it. In the "Compendium," it is said that the objective condition and the dominant condition are two, referring to consciousness acting as a condition for material phenomena, and material phenomena acting as a condition for consciousness. In the "Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes" and the "Compendium of the Great Vehicle," saying that it is only the dominant condition refers to the defining characteristic of the condition. Fifth, the first eleven links act on individuals and phenomena. Among them, ignorance performs two functions: it makes sentient beings deluded in existence, and it acts as a condition for action. Action performs two functions: it differentiates sentient beings into various realms, and it acts as a condition for the habit of consciousness. Consciousness performs two functions: it holds the karmic bonds of sentient beings, and it acts as a condition for name and form. Similarly, name and form cause sentient beings to enter into rebirth, and they act as a condition for the six sense bases. The six sense bases cause sentient beings to fully receive rebirth, and they act as a condition for contact. Contact connects sentient beings to the enjoyment of objects, and it acts as a condition for feeling.

Feeling connects sentient beings with the enjoyment of birth and becomes the cause of craving. Craving becomes the cause of the manifestation and acceptance of the birth of sentient beings. Acceptance causes the consciousness of sentient beings to be combined with acceptance and becomes the cause of existence. Existence causes sentient beings to manifestly move towards the next life and becomes the cause of birth. Birth causes sentient beings to gradually achieve from name and form to feeling and becomes the cause of aging. Aging repeatedly causes age to change, thus acting on people. A part of dependent origination that is included in samsara does not act on the Dharma, but if understood according to a part mentioned in the sutras, it also acts on the Dharma because craving is the cause. Seventh, the word "dependent origination" shows the meaning of no author, because it shows that there is no author such as Ishvara, but only arises from immutable causes. If so, wouldn't it become without cause? It also shows that it has a cause, because it shows that from ignorance to action, etc., the later branches arise from the previous ones. It also shows no-self, because it shows that there is no person different from the aggregates. It also only shows other-dependence, because it shows that it arises from the power of other causes and conditions. It also shows immobility, because it shows that the result arises from the aggregation of causes and conditions, without the immobility of the thought of "I will create this" arising beforehand. It also shows impermanence, because it shows that it does not exist permanently. It also shows momentariness, because it shows that it does not exist on the other shore from the time of birth. If so, wouldn't the cause and effect be interrupted? No, because there is a result after the moment of the cause's cessation, so the cause and effect are not interrupted. If so, wouldn't the cause and effect be uncertain? No, because giving rise to enjoyment, stinginess giving rise to poverty, etc., are the meanings of cause and effect being consistent. If so, wouldn't the number of causes and effects be equal? No, because one result arises from multiple causes, and multiple results arise from one cause, so it is the meaning of various causes and effects. If so,
