The Establishment of Dependent Arising, Clearly Illuminating Saṃsāra and Nirvāṇa. The Establishment of Dependent Arising, Clearly Illuminating Saṃsāra and Nirvāṇa. This is the treatise called The Establishment of Dependent Arising, Clearly Illuminating Saṃsāra and Nirvāṇa. The Establishment of Dependent Arising, Clearly Illuminating Saṃsāra and Nirvāṇa. I prostrate to the Guru and the supreme deity, the venerable Mañjuvajra. Having attained the realization of the union at the peak of the path that gathers all qualities, and having stood majestically like a lion, and having stood majestically, again in the subsequent attainment, the noble bodhisattva triumphs in realizing dependent arising. Whoever, having realized it, completely transcends the confines of existence and ascends to the summit of liberation, the method of ascending is only through realizing dependent arising, there is no other way, this is the teaching of the fully enlightened Buddha. The root of saṃsāra is ignorance about the person, and the root of that is also, ignorance about the meaning of reality, this is said in the Mahāyāna Madhyamaka scriptures. The object of attachment of that ignorance, having been cut off by the view of emptiness, all afflictions such as the view of the aggregates, and contaminated actions do not arise, therefore, the suffering of being born in saṃsāra does not arise, if the order of the twelve links of dependent arising, both forward and reverse, is determined with certainty and practiced, it is the ladder to ascend to the three enlightenments. The way of arising of the Madhyamaka view, which has the same meaning as dependent arising and emptiness, with rational, exposition, is clearly explained in the treatises of the noble Nāgārjuna, this is the Mahāyāna tradition. Here, I will explain the nature of each of the twelve links of dependent arising, which are famous in all schools, as well as the analysis of cause and effect, time aggregation, and location similarity, etc., please listen with joy, you who desire meaning. There are four schools here: the Vaibhāṣika school, the Sautrāntika school, the Cittamatra school, and the Madhyamaka school. The first has two parts: a general division of dependent arising into four types, and a detailed explanation of temporary dependent arising. The first is: momentary, relational, temporary, and continuous dependent arising, these four. The first is: killing motivated by intense desire, even in a single moment of this temporary state, the twelve links of dependent arising can be established, at that time, the arising of mind, ignorance is ignorance, the arising of mind, thought is action.

The main thing is consciousness, and consciousness together with the other four aggregates is name and form. The six sources, such as the eye, which rely on name and form, are the six entrances. The meeting of the six entrances with their objects is contact. Experiencing contact is feeling. Intense desire is craving. The actions of body and speech that are aroused by it are grasping and existence. The ability of actions to produce future fruits is birth. The decay and cessation of actions is old age and death. All of this is also aroused by intense desire, because the mere moment of arising and ceasing at the end of life contains all of this. Secondly, from the explanation of the treatises, what is dependent origination? It is all conditioned phenomena. As it is said, all conditioned phenomena are interconnected dependent origination, because depending on this and that cause and condition, this and that result will arise, therefore the connection between cause and effect is established as dependent origination. Thirdly, the stage of the aggregates encompassed by the three times will transform into twelve branches, which will be explained later. Fourthly, interconnected dependent origination and the dependent origination of stages, these two arise continuously one after the other in an instant, and are established only on these two. The summary of the second is: the stage of the three times aggregates is established as twelve branches. It is explained from the perspective of the main nouns. It explains the necessity of establishing it in the three times themselves. It is summarized into three afflictions and two causes and effects. Even if the cause and effect of the two are summarized, it must be understood through the middle. Although there are prior and subsequent causes and effects, the twelve branches must be determined. The difference between the dependent origination of arising and what has arisen is explained. Among these seven points, the first is: the complete twelve branches refer to sentient beings in the desire realm who are not born miraculously, taking a complete lifetime as the center, for his three times, ignorance and action, from consciousness to existence these eight branches, birth and old age and death need to be established separately. As the Abhidharmakosha says: There are two at the beginning and end, and eight in the middle, which is also complete. So, what is the nature of being established in the three times? Ignorance is the stage of affliction aroused by the actions of the previous life, and it is also the five aggregates. Action is the action accumulated by the power of the afflictions of the previous life.
