It is not so. Thus, the substance of actual absorption is of eight kinds, seven kinds, and three kinds. There are those who possess enjoyment, those who are pure, and those who are without outflows. The eighth kind has two types: those who possess enjoyment and those who are associated with desire. Worldly virtue is that which is pure and is experienced. That which is without outflows is transcendent of the world. The first [dhyana] has five branches: investigation, analysis, joy, bliss, and abiding in concentration. The second has four branches: conviction, joy, and so on. The third has five branches: equanimity, mindfulness, awareness, bliss, and abiding. Finally, there are four: mindfulness, equanimity, neither bliss nor suffering, and concentration. There are eleven substances. In the first, there is the bliss of extreme joy. Extreme purity is faith. According to the Sautrantikas, there are two kinds of joy and mental bliss. For those with afflictions, there are joy and bliss, conviction, awareness, mindfulness, and equanimity without purity. Some say that extreme joy is equanimity, for the sake of liberation from eight faults. The fourth [dhyana] is without movement. Investigation, analysis, purified breath, bliss, and so on are four. In the pure dhyana of existence, there are mental bliss, bliss, and equanimity, equanimity, mental bliss, bliss, and equanimity, equanimity, and feeling. In the second [dhyana] and so on, the consciousness of the body, eye, and ear arises. Whatever it is, it belongs to the first [dhyana]. It is indeterminate, not an affliction. It is not associated with that, free from desire. Purity is attained from existence. The one without outflows, through being free from desire, the afflicted one declines, through existence. At the end of the one without outflows, reversing down to the third [dhyana], it is virtuous. From the pure one of existence, it is like that. The afflictions of one's own ground are also like that. From the afflicted one, one's own purity and the purity of the lower ground of affliction are also like that. From the purity of death and transmigration, all afflictions arise. From the afflicted one, it is not the higher ground. The decline of purity is similar to the part. The four declines are in order: the arising of afflictions and one's own ground, the higher ground, and being in accordance with the one without outflows. At the end of the decline similar to the part, there are two, three, three, and one. All eight grounds have two connections, and one surpasses, like one who has passed away and comes again, to the third ground of a different kind. The absorption of transcendence is. The formless dhyana, one's own and the lower ground have reliance, the lower ground is not needed. There is nothing for the noble one at the peak of existence. Having manifested, outflows are exhausted. The one associated with desire, one's own.

Focus on politics. (Focus on politics.) Meditation is a good realm, possessing everything. (Meditation is a good realm, possessing everything.) The essence of the formless realm is all virtuous dharmas, (The essence of the formless realm is all virtuous dharmas,) Not the realm of practice of the lower realms with outflows. (Not the realm of practice of the lower realms with outflows.) Because of being without outflows, it can cut off all afflictions, (Because of being without outflows, it can cut off all afflictions,) Also, with the purity of the near attainment, it can cut off. (Also, with the purity of the near attainment, it can cut off.) From those, there are eight near attainments, (From those, there are eight near attainments,) The pure ones are neither pleasure nor pain. (The pure ones are neither pleasure nor pain.) The first noble ones also have three kinds, (The first noble ones also have three kinds,) Non-conceptual meditation is especially excellent. (Non-conceptual meditation is especially excellent.) All three are neither pleasure nor pain, (All three are neither pleasure nor pain,) This is the result of the Great Brahma. (This is the result of the Great Brahma.) Below it, there are discrimination and investigation, (Below it, there are discrimination and investigation,) Above meditation, both are absent. (Above meditation, both are absent.) Thus it is said. The meanings of these are: the nature and classification of meditation and the formless realm, the detailed explanation of the limbs of meditation, the ways of obtaining the three samadhis, what will happen after which of the three, the detailed explanation of the pure samadhis, the detailed examination of the special dharmas, and a total of six aspects are explained. The first aspect is: the six verses beginning with "Meditation is pure." The first verse divides meditation into cause - samadhi and result - birth, and the second verse explains that the result - birth has already explained the three states. Then two verses explain the nature of meditation, then two verses explain the nature of each of the four meditations. Then one verse explains the nature of the formless realm, then one verse explains the nature of each of the four formless realms. Then two verses explain the essence of the formless realm, and that the perception of form has disappeared, including the three higher near attainments. Then two verses explain the argument for previously establishing the four aggregates. Then one verse explains the definitions of the four formless realms, then one and a half verses explain that the number of eight substances of the essence of samadhi is fixed, and then seven and a half verses divide the seven samadhis except for the peak of existence into three kinds, and explain the nature of these three.
