If someone asks, why are the three increasing fruits not counted separately? That is because it only shows the clear difference of Akanistha, and the fundamental difference is Akanistha itself. Therefore, considering this, the sutra of Akanistha is separately proclaimed from the sutra of the three increasing fruits. If someone asks, why are the entrances of the latter three fruits not counted? That is because the special fruit position of the former three fruits is the entrance of the latter three fruits. If someone thinks that since the two births from lineage to lineage and the three increasing fruits have their own sutras, they should be counted in the fundamental differences, then the four noble truths also have their own sutras, so they should also be counted in the fundamental differences of the ten dharmas. If someone thinks that since the word "three increasing fruits" is actually in the root of the treatise, it should be counted in the fundamental differences, then there is also the word "three jewels such as Buddha", so it will become necessary to count in the fundamental differences of the instructions. I speak of the meaning of the sutras and treatises in this way, and the ignorant should not rely on worldly words to comment arbitrarily, because it is beautiful for fools to speak less. For the meaning of the sutras and treatises, those whose light of wisdom is broad comment on whether it is reasonable or not, which is the way to uphold the Dharma, and if I hear the comments, I will also investigate. Second, taking the symbolic Sangha as an example, there are two ways to explain the method in the Abhidharma: one is the way of explaining in the Abhidharma; the other is to determine its meaning. The first is divided into two: one is the establishment of the fruit position of the object of support; the other is the establishment of the person of the subject of support. The first is divided into three: one is the appearance of the Shramana; the second is to identify its fruit and divide it into eighty-nine kinds; the third is to eliminate the contradiction with the four fruits proclaimed in the sutra; the fourth is how many fruits can be obtained in each of the three realms. The first is, in the Abhidharma, it says: "The appearance of the Shramana is the undefiled path, the fruits are conditioned and unconditioned, these are eighty-nine in total, including the path of liberation and extinction." And in its commentary, it says: "What is the so-called appearance of the Shramana? The appearance of the Shramana is the undefiled path. The appearance of the Shramana is the unpolluted path. Through it, afflictions can be completely pacified, thus becoming a Shramana.

In short, because this pacifies various forms from what is called sinful and unwholesome dharma to the vast aging and changing, therefore it is called a Shramana. Because ordinary beings cannot be permanently tranquil, they are not true Shramanas. The fruit of the Shramana path is conditioned and unconditioned. The fruits of the Shramana path are conditioned and unconditioned, and these are generally said to be of four types. Furthermore, there are eighty-nine of these. What are these? Including the path of liberation and cessation, etc. The eight unobstructed paths that are to be abandoned by seeing, abandoning, and the eight paths of liberation. The afflictions to be abandoned by meditation, abandoning the nine types of afflictions in each of the nine grounds, such unobstructed paths and paths of liberation. Among them, the unobstructed paths are the Shramana path. The paths of liberation are the conditioned fruits of the Shramana path, because they are the results of the same cause and the agent. The abandonment of these afflictions is the unconditioned fruit of the Shramana path, so there are eighty-nine. The second is, from the same place: Establishing the four fruits, the five causes are for existence. On the fruit, abandoning the previous path, and obtaining others, cessation samadhi, obtaining eight aggregates of wisdom, and obtaining sixteen aspects. And, in its commentary: If so, then is it necessary to supplement what the Buddha said? There is no need to supplement, even though there are many fruits, establishing the four fruits, the five causes are for existence. It is said that the Blessed One establishes as the fruit in whatever stage of the path of abandonment the five causes exist. What are the five? On the fruit, abandoning the previous path, and obtaining others, cessation samadhi, obtaining eight aggregates of wisdom, and obtaining sixteen aspects. Abandoning the previous path and obtaining the path that was not previously there is because of abandoning and obtaining the path of the stream-enterer and the fruit. The cessation of abandonment is because everything has obtained one.
