Or, it is thought that those who ascend upwards can pass into extinction in the interim. For example, if a stream-enterer reaches the peak, it is like a seven-times-born one. This is said with reference to the indeterminate type. Second, the view of the Sutra School is: the term "seven-times-born" is taken literally, considering that only seven existences are taken, and it is not considered that both gods and humans take seven existences each. The Vaibhashikas ask: What scriptural and logical proofs are there to understand that gods and humans each take seven existences in their respective bases? If it is answered that because gods and humans each are born seven times, and seven times are born within both, it will not become a seven-times-born one. Then, what is there to understand about this? If it is said that because it is said in the scriptures that one is born seven times among the gods and humans. Then, this cannot be a way to understand that one person is born seven times on the respective bases of gods and humans, because for the Dharmaguptakas, seven times among the gods and seven times among the humans can also be applied to different people. Therefore, there seem to be three views on this: the Vaibhashikas consider that gods and humans each take seven existences in their respective bases, that is, fourteen are taken; the Sutra School considers that both are added together and seven existences are taken; and the Dharmaguptakas consider that seven existences are taken on the basis of either gods or humans. Fourth, regarding the definition: According to the Vaibhashika view, the definition of a seven-times-born one is: a stream-enterer who has attained the path of seeing and possesses a physical basis, is a type that takes seven existences of the same kind in the desire realm. If classified, there are two types of seven-times-born ones: the determinate type and the indeterminate type. Regarding the definition of the first type, some say: Whoever is a stream-enterer who is certain to take seven existences of the same kind in the desire realm is a seven-times-born one of the determinate type. The subject: a stream-enterer who has the basis of the first intermediate state of desire, preceded by the realization of the seven-times-born one of the determinate type. It should be the thesis. Because it is that definition. Some say: In order to cut it off, whoever is a stream-enterer who has attained the path of seeing and has not abandoned the physical basis, acts in that way. Others say:

So, both the Stream-enterer Fruition-attainer who has the first support of the intermediate state of desire, whose realization precedes the seven-time existence of those with a definite lineage, are the subject of the proposition. It should be the referent, because it is that definition. The first part is established, because any Stream-enterer Fruition-attainer who has attained the path of seeing has not abandoned the physical support. If the latter part is not established, then the seven-time existence of those with a definite lineage should have abandoned the physical support of attaining the path of seeing, because both abandon it. Some say: Then, the Stream-enterer Fruition-attainer who has the first support of the intermediate state of desire, whose realization precedes the seven-time existence of those with a definite lineage, should be the Stream-enterer Fruition-attainer who has not abandoned the physical support of attaining the path of seeing, because both that and the seven-time existence of those with a definite lineage are that. The own system is: Any Stream-enterer Fruition-attainer who has the physical support of attaining the path of seeing will definitely take seven existences of similar kind in the desire realm and then manifest Nirvana. That is, if the fruit of Stream-entry is attained in a divine body, then six times in a divine body, seven times in a human body, and finally manifest Nirvana in a divine body. If the fruit of Stream-entry is attained in a human body, then six times in a human body, seven times in a divine body, and finally manifest Nirvana in a human body. Second, the definition of the Stream-enterer Seven-time Existence of those with an indefinite lineage: Any Stream-enterer Seven-time Existence who manifests Nirvana up to the thirteenth existence in the desire realm. According to the Sautrāntika school, the definition of the Seven-time Existence of those with a definite lineage: Any Stream-enterer Fruition-attainer who has the physical support of attaining the path of seeing will definitely take seven existences in the desire realm and then manifest Nirvana on the support of the seventh existence. The definition of the Seven-time Existence of those with an indefinite lineage: Any Stream-enterer Seven-time Existence who manifests Nirvana up to the sixth existence in the desire realm. Regarding the manner of taking rebirth, some say that gods and humans take rebirth alternately, which is unreasonable, because the same fault would occur in the school of the Vaibhāṣikas. Some say that the Seven-time Existence with a divine body, seven times in a divine body, the one with a human body
