After abandoning, the nature of emptiness of other-powered and that imputed on it, existing in the ultimate sense, is the Middle Way. This is its meaning. Third, from the way it is explained in the Middle-Ends Discrimination, it is the way of abandoning exaggeration and denigration. Therefore, there are two ways to establish the Middle Way. The first is: In the Middle-Ends, it says, "The unreal conceptualization exists, in it the two do not exist, emptiness exists in this, in it also that exists." And in its commentary, Lodro Ten (blo brtan) says that some people think that all phenomena are like rabbit horns, without any inherent nature. Therefore, in order to refute the denigration of all phenomena, it is said, "The unreal conceptualization exists," which is the remainder of the word "inherent nature." In this way, in short, all phenomena are empty. If someone asks, does this contradict the sutras? It does not contradict, because it says, "In it the two do not exist." In the unreal conceptualization, because it is empty of the nature of the apprehended and the apprehender, it is called emptiness, but it is not that there is no inherent nature, so it does not contradict the sutras. If someone asks, if that is the case, the two, the apprehended and the apprehender, are originally non-existent like rabbit horns, and the unreal conceptualization exists in the ultimate sense with its own nature, then in that case, wouldn't emptiness cease to exist? That is not the case, because it says, "Emptiness exists in this." In the unreal conceptualization, whatever is without the apprehended and the apprehender, that is emptiness, so emptiness will not cease to exist. Its meaning is that believing that all phenomena are inherently non-existent is denigration, so as its antidote, it should be said that the other-powered exists with its own characteristics. If someone asks, then in general, does it contradict the statement in the sutras that all phenomena are empty? That is because the sutras speak of emptiness in terms of the imputed, so it does not contradict. If someone asks, then wouldn't emptiness cease to exist with its own characteristics? The meaning of emptiness is not emptiness that is empty of its own entity, but emptiness that is empty of the two, the apprehended and the apprehender, on top of the other-powered, so it will not cease to exist with its own characteristics. This is its meaning. The second is, in the Middle-Ends, it says, "Not empty, not non-empty, therefore all, are explained, by existence, by non-existence, by existence, this is the Middle Way." That is to say, the other-powered is established by its own characteristics

Moreover, since it has been explained that it does not contradict the meaning of the sutras, therefore, other-powered nature exists by its own nature, the imputed nature does not exist by its own nature, and the thoroughly established nature exists by its own nature, and that is the Middle Way that abandons the two extremes. Third, how to explain the scriptures has three aspects: how doubts arise, answering to dispel those doubts, and thus establishing the definite number of the three turnings of the wheel. First, the basis for the arising of doubts is that in the first turning of the wheel, the self and common characteristics of all phenomena were taught, and in the second turning of the wheel, all phenomena were taught to be without inherent existence, and so on. The way doubts arise is by thinking that these two contradict each other, and then asking: What was the intention behind teaching the self and common characteristics of all phenomena? What was the intention behind teaching that all phenomena are without inherent existence, and so on? In the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra, it says: The Blessed One has also taught in many ways the self-nature of the aggregates, and has also taught the nature of arising and the nature of disintegration, as well as abandonment and complete knowledge. Just as with the aggregates, he has also taught the sense bases, dependent origination, and the contaminated. Similarly, combining them, he has also taught the self-nature of the truths, as well as complete knowledge, abandonment, realization, and cultivation, as well as the self-nature of the elements, as well as various elements and multiple elements, as well as abandonment and complete knowledge, as well as the self-nature of the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, as well as incompatibility and antidotes, as well as the unborn and arising, as well as the arisen abiding, as well as the non-arising and re-abiding, as well as increasing and expanding. The Blessed One has also taught. The Blessed One has also taught that all phenomena are without inherent existence, all phenomena are unborn and unceasing, primordially peaceful, and naturally in complete nirvana. So, with what intention did the Blessed One teach that all phenomena are without inherent existence, all phenomena are unborn and unceasing, primordially peaceful, and naturally in complete nirvana? I think, with what intention did the Blessed One teach that all phenomena are without inherent existence, all phenomena are unborn and unceasing, primordially peaceful, and naturally in complete nirvana?
