It is said that the "wanting" of "wanting perfect complete enlightenment" is a nominal term for bodhicitta, and not shown as a mental bodhicitta. The Protector Maitreya explained it as a mental factor, and here also it says "wanting perfect complete enlightenment," and in the Ornament of the Sutras, it says, "A mental factor possessing two meanings." The brothers Asanga also thought the same, saying in the Bodhisattva Grounds that the best of the aspirations of the bodhisattvas is the generation of bodhicitta, and in the commentary on "a mental factor possessing two meanings," Vasubandhu said that the mind that focuses on two or three qualities is the generation of bodhicitta. The essential point is that it is mainly necessary to place it on the mental factor desire and mind, because the "wanting" of "wanting perfect complete enlightenment" is desire, and the mental factor of "a mental factor possessing two meanings" is said to be mind by Vasubandhu, and Asanga said it is both. How is it? The best of aspirations is said to be the generation of bodhicitta, and that aspiration is also said in the Ornament of the Sutras, "The aspirations of the steadfast are, possessing mind and desire." Because it is said to be both mind and desire. So, is that bodhicitta definitely those two mental factors? When those two mental factors become bodhicitta, the other minds and mental factors that are in accordance with it also become bodhicitta due to the power of others. Like the eight consciousness aggregates and the fifty-one mental factors, etc., refuge and the generation of bodhicitta, which are not mentioned from the nature of mind and mental factors, and the practice and accomplishment, etc., are mainly established on the level of mental factors, but due to the power of others, both mind and mental factors are present, because this is the intention of the scriptures such as the Higher and Lower Abhidharma. This is also the intention of other valid doctrines, in the chapter on ethics of the Bodhisattva Grounds, the entry into the three trainings of abandoning misdeeds, gathering virtuous dharmas, and benefiting sentient beings is said to be the generation of bodhicitta, and there is no practice of bodhisattvas that is not included by these three. Second is, the Sakya school's...

The venerable superiors' view is that, in general, aspiration is divided into three: the mind of aspiration, the generation of aspiration bodhicitta, and protecting aspiration from degeneration. Entering is also divided into three: the mind of entering, the generation of entering bodhicitta, and protecting entering from degeneration. Therefore, the difference between aspiration and entering is that one desires to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of sentient beings, and one desires to practice the path in order to attain Buddhahood. When these two minds arise in the mindstream and are not yet grasped by vows, they are merely the mind of aspiration and entering. When they are grasped by vows, they are the aspiration and entering bodhicitta. All practices from then on are protecting aspiration from degeneration and protecting entering from degeneration. This is their view. Therefore, the arising of a qualified aspiration and entering bodhicitta and entering the Mahayana accumulation path are simultaneous. Because the arising of a qualified aspiration and entering bodhicitta requires the arising in the mindstream of bodhicitta grasped by vows, and when this arises, bodhicitta grasped by the activity of benefiting sentient beings must arise, and this itself is entering the path. For example, when the teacher Shakyamuni Buddha was born as the giant who pulled the chariot of hell, it was said that he generated bodhicitta. To say that there is bodhicitta without entering the path, like this, refers to the mere mind of aspiration and entering. If it is a qualified bodhicitta, then there is no contradiction in entering the path at that time. These two bodhicittas of aspiration and entering, once arisen in the mindstream, remain as one entity until the end of existence. Because when these two arise simultaneously, the mere mind of aspiration and entering is the mental factor of desire, and the main aspect of aspiration and entering bodhicitta is established on the basis of the mental factor of intention, which abandons unfavorable factors. Therefore, when the mental factor becomes aspiration bodhicitta and entering bodhicitta, all the minds and mental factors that are associated with it will become the two bodhicittas. If one thinks that the mental factor of intention that has become the entity of aspiration bodhicitta and the mental factor of intention that has become the entity of entering bodhicitta are different substances, and therefore it is not certain that they are one entity, that is not reasonable. Because the mental factor of intention, which is the retinue of the main one mind, is a different substanc
