When attachment arises towards the truth of suffering, which is impermanence, if one prevents attachment to impermanence, but does not transcend the attachment of thinking "it is not impermanent," then preventing attachment to impermanence and being attached to "not impermanent" are unified in the essence of the mind. At that time, the aspect of preventing attachment to impermanence is the path of joining, but it is not the conceptual thought indicated here. The aspect of being attached to "not impermanent" is the conceptual thought indicated here, but it cannot be established as the path of joining, so there is no contradiction. Similarly, the object to which the previous mind was attached, the subsequent mind must prevent it, and all attachments such as emptiness and non-emptiness must also be prevented, so this should be applied to all objects and aspects, where can it be finished by speaking? If you understand this key point, you can understand the way to establish the negation of conceptual thought and the path of joining, and the samadhi as the same essence, and the way that conceptual thought prevents one elaboration, but clings to another, so all elaborations must be prevented alternately, and the way that direct perception of yoga prevents all elaborations simultaneously, these key points are gathered into one key point to understand. Otherwise, even if you search for countless eons, you will not be able to understand. Second, analyzing what is the negation of conceptual thought and the establishment of conceptual thought: Some people think that there is only the establishment of conceptual thought, some people think that there is only the negation of conceptual thought, and some translators and lamas think that the four conceptual thoughts must have the path of joining in essence, therefore, the third kind thinks that the negation of conceptual thought and the other three are the establishment of conceptual thought, etc., although many kinds of statements appear, the fundamental intention is like this: In general, the sutras directly point out that the other three conceptual thoughts are the negation of conceptual thought, and indirectly point out the establishment of conceptual thought. But in the treatises, it is pointed out in the opposite way to the sutras, so the direct pointing out of the treatises is only the establishment of conceptual thought, because it is based on the nine, four, and thirty-six objects, and has the aspects of the grasper and the grasped, so it can only be the establishment of conceptual thought. The direct pointing out of the sutras and the indirect pointing out of the treatises are the negation of conceptual thought, because it is based on the thirty-six objects, and has the nature of no grasper and grasped, so it has the aspect of negating the way of clinging. Even when admitting the negation of conceptual thought, the example of the mind that thinks that the pot is without self-nature but clings to reality is not admitted as the negation of conceptual thought, because it has the aspect of establishing the way of clinging. In short, the way of clinging

If the appearance of clinging to the establishment (base) as real is to be abandoned, then its opposite, the appearance of refuting it, should also be abandoned, because all elaborations of dualistic grasping such as existence and non-existence, right and wrong, etc., must be stopped. Although this appears consistently in all the sutras and treatises that explain the Madhyamaka view, it seems that those who wear the hat of imputation on the head of innate clinging have not seen it. Third, analyzing what is to be abandoned by the path of seeing and what is to be abandoned by the path of meditation: the four kinds of establishment conceptualizations that are directly indicated are only to be abandoned by the path of seeing. In the Abhisamayalankara it says, "Now we will explain what is related to conceptualization and correctness. Among them, the opponents of the path of seeing are four kinds of conceptualization. How so? There are two kinds of object-grasping conceptualization: relying on the thing itself and relying on the antidote. Saying 'only' is to clarify the difference. There are two kinds of subject-grasping conceptualization: relying on the person as a real basis, and relying on the person as an imputed basis." Because it is said so. All four samadhi of the bodhisattva's path of joining are the path of joining that is divided into two as the antidote to the abandonment of the path of seeing, and also because the key point of the four kinds of conceptualization directly indicated directly contradicts the samadhi and the way of grasping, it is also established as the path of seeing to be abandoned, which has been said before. Then, is there a contradiction with the way that the object-grasping and subject-grasping conceptualizations that will be explained in the Abhisamayalankara are to be abandoned by the path of seeing and the path of meditation, and the way that the four kinds of object-grasping and subject-grasping conceptualizations to be abandoned by the path of seeing and the path of meditation are explained in the commentary, and what appears in the commentary? There is no contradiction. Although what is directly indicated is to be abandoned by the path of seeing, the four kinds of conceptualization in the way of refutation that are indirectly implied cannot be abandoned by the path of seeing, so when one only grasps the dharma as an imputation without clinging to reality, it may also appear in the continuum of the noble bodhisattva, and it must be established as the conceptualization to be abandoned by the path of meditation that is explained in the fifth chapter. In this way, the venerable omniscient one said that both the subject-grasping conceptualization and the object-grasping conceptualization to be abandoned by the path of meditation in the fifth chapter are included in the imputed grasping conceptualization.
