It is said that clinging to characteristics on the path is: The perception of conduct contrary to the aspects of enlightenment such as generosity. This is what it indicates. Clinging to characteristics on the result is: Attachment to victory and so on is subtle. This is what it indicates. The directly indicated basis of the Bodhisattva's wisdom, because it realizes that the three bases, paths, and results are without inherent existence, is the antidote. When explaining that the antidote to clinging to characteristics on the basis, it is intended to be explained in the stage of entering into union below, so it is not directly indicated here. The antidote to characteristics on the path is: There is no self-grasping on generosity and so on. This is indicated by three lines. The antidote to clinging to characteristics on the result is: All phenomena are of one nature. This is indicated by two lines. The proof that the result is contrary to clinging to characteristics is: By the nature of the path of Dharma. This is indicated by two lines. The proof of profundity is: By preventing seeing and so on. It is said that it is difficult to realize. This is what it indicates. The proof of being difficult to realize is: Because it is not known in form and so on. It is considered inconceivable. This is what it indicates. Thus, among the two, the direct indication that the basis of the Bodhisattva's wisdom is the antidote, and the indirect indication that the basis of the Lesser Vehicle's wisdom is the meaning of being contrary is summarized: Thus, the all-knowing sunlight principle. This is indicated by one verse. Second, in entering into union, the union of directly indicating the basis of the Bodhisattva's wisdom is: Form and so on, that is impermanent and so on. This is directly indicated. The union of indirectly indicating the basis of the Lesser Vehicle's wisdom is indicated indirectly. The equality of union is also the same as this. Third, in entering the result of the path of seeing, the result of cultivating the union of the basis of the Bodhisattva's wisdom, the path of seeing of the Bodhisattva is: Suffering and so on are truths. This is directly indicated. The result of cultivating the union of the indirectly indicated basis of wisdom, the path of seeing of the Lesser Vehicle, is indicated indirectly. So what is the reason why the path of cultivation is not explained after that? This is because the path of seeing is explained from the opposite of the path of seeing of the Great Vehicle, which is the manifest realization of the types of realization of the Lesser Vehicle, so the path of cultivation is also the manifest realization of the types of realization of the Lesser Vehicle.

Because it must be explained from the opposite of the Mahayana path of cultivation, which is to constantly practice after realization, otherwise there is no such situation. Because the noble Bodhisattva does not directly see the types of realization of the Hinayana and constantly practice them. Therefore, there is no Mahayana path of cultivation suitable for teaching here, so it is not explained. The teacher's treatise is "The Hearer's path is" and so on. After that, in order to summarize and explain the meaning of the three wisdoms, there are three sutra sentences, which summarize the meaning into a root verse, that is, "Thus this and also this and" and so on. Thus it is asserted. Thus, from these assertions of the teacher, the place of entry - the base wisdom, the method of entry - the practice, and the result of entry - the path of seeing, are divided into direct and indirect explanations, and it is very appropriate to combine the direct explanation with the direct realization of the Bodhisattva and the indirect explanation with the direct realization of the Hinayana, because in the third chapter, when explaining the physical classification of the support of the base wisdom, it is said "Hearers, etc.", and it is necessary to include the Pratyekabuddha and the Bodhisattva from the "etc.", at this time the direct realization of the Hinayana can only be an indirect explanation, because if the third chapter is the directly explained base wisdom, then it must be the direct realization of the Bodhisattva, which has already been established in the praise. Moreover, if it is from the aspect of the direct realization of the Hinayana Svatantrika, if it is from the aspect of the types of realization, there is no contradiction in identifying the support of the Bodhisattva's base wisdom as Hearers and Pratyekabuddhas, because it has been said before. It is unreasonable to combine the difference between near and far, and the difference between dissimilar and similar qualities with the base wisdom of the Hinayana and the base wisdom of the Bodhisattva respectively, because the two sentences before and after the word "This is" indicate that if one is attached to the characteristics, one is not skilled in the means of cultivating the fruit of Buddhahood, so one is far from the fruit of Buddhahood, and if one is not attached to the characteristics, one is skilled in the means of cultivating the fruit of Buddhahood, so one is close to the fruit of Buddhahood. Otherwise, if the base wisdoms are different, it should appear as "This is the door of attachment to characteristics, far away because it is not a means, the other is skilled in means", rather than "This is skilled in means".
