La! As asked by Rabjor: That which is unborn is not a flower either. Thus, the truth of the flower is refuted. The meaning is that those flowers, in their outer and inner aspects, and in their unborn nature, although not established as truly existent, are taken as objects of offering to the Buddha and his retinue, and the nature of reality, which is the basis for realizing their lack of inherent existence, although not established as truly existent in its outer and inner aspects, and in its unborn nature, serves as the basis for the path of the self-victor. Thus, the basis of reality is shown. So it is said. Third, are these three distinctions the characteristics of the path of the self-victor and self-continuum, or are they the characteristics of the types of realization that exist in the mind-stream of a Bodhisattva? The explicit teaching of the sutras and treatises is according to the latter, because the above-mentioned knowledge of the Hearer's path is explained through the gateway of being encompassed by the three: the preliminary practice of generating the mind of enlightenment, the main practice of wisdom that realizes non-objectification, and the subsequent dedication. Therefore, it must be placed in the category of realizations in the mind-stream of a Bodhisattva, because it has the same reasons as that. Also, here, when explaining the distinctions of the basis, it is explained from the perspective of the difference between a Bodhisattva and a Buddha-son. Also, the key point of not explaining the path of meditation at that time is because the type of realization is not made familiar as the path of meditation of a Bodhisattva. Otherwise, the three characteristics would also be present on the path of meditation of the self-victor, so it would be necessary to explain the meditator as well. Fourth, in the two commentaries of the teacher, the large and the small, it says: "One who does not turn back from self-enlightenment," and "One who possesses intermediate intelligence." If it is thought that it is necessary to establish it as a characteristic of the path of the self-victor and self-continuum because it is said so, then that is in terms of the type of realization, and it is reasonable as asserted by Yakrong and the two, because it is the cause of attaining all three vehicles. Because it is said that attaining the type of realization is the attainment of that vehicle. Tibetans, such as the great Bodhisattvas who do not turn back, etc., assert that they are the basis of the path-person, and these flowers are emanations, etc., and that they are the basis of the nature-of-reality category, but the former says that the nature of reality in the mind-stream of those persons is the basis of the nature-of-reality category of the realization type of the self-victor, and the latter says that although it is the nature of reality, it shows the proof that it can be used as a basis, and it appears to be the intention of dual appearance.

That is, in that very context, what is said by making the basis of realization and so forth is the irreversible great Bodhisattva and so on. Because it is said that showing the attainment of the Dharma of realization without a basis that has become a real thing is the appearance of an illusion-like flower placed nearby, and so forth. The self-tradition considers the knowable object-grasping conceptualization that abides in the category of what is to be abandoned to be merely the clinging to reality, which is the clinging to the truth of external objects. This is because it has not understood that the latter eleven aspects of the path truth, which are included in the base consciousness, are the category of realization of the self-Buddha. Moreover, since it seems to be the case that in the two object-grasping conceptualizations taught in the first chapter, there is no knowable object-grasping conceptualization abiding in the category of what is to be abandoned by the self-tradition, it has already been refuted. Moreover, in the "Lamp on Wisdom," it is not seen that it is said: Merely meditating on the truth as it is said, and meditating on dependent arising as it is, thereby abandoning the conceptualization of the appearance of the object grasped, and completely abandoning the manifest attachment to ignorance, aggregates, self, and so forth. Second, the cause of that, the concordant part of ascertainment, is: The nature of imputation is not contradictory. And so on. The category of realization of the self-tradition path, also, can only be known in the manner of a general meaning, and cannot be explained to others without error, so it must be known directly. Moreover, it must also be constantly meditated on during the stage of the path of joining, so the cause of the path of knowledge of the self-tradition path is the path of joining of the Bodhisattva who constantly meditates on the category of realization of the self-tradition path. In the "Great Commentary," it is said: The path of joining of the Bodhisattva is mentioned in the first chapter because, among the three paths of knowledge, the cause of the path of knowledge of the Bodhisattva is the concordant part of ascertainment that is mentioned. Therefore, in this chapter, the reason why the concordant part of ascertainment is mentioned in the stages of the first two paths of knowledge is that the Bodhisattva who meditates on the lower two categories of realization is the path of joining, and the reasons why the cause of the concordant part of ascertainment is not mentioned in the stage of the latter path of knowledge are well established. Third, regarding the manner of the Bodhisattva's path of knowledge to be taught to those of the Bodhisattva lineage, the knowable object, the Bodhisattva's path, is also to be taught to other trainees.
