Even if the manifest afflictions below the realm of nothingness are eliminated, it is shown that the actual path knowledge cannot arise because the manifest afflictions of the peak of existence have not been eliminated. Then, is it possible for all those who have eliminated manifest afflictions to actually generate path knowledge? If you think so, then "the place is definite," etc., shows that on top of that, due to the difference between the presence or absence of the favorable condition of generating the supreme bodhicitta, the places where path knowledge actually arises are determined separately. This, through complete exclusion, shows that for a bodhisattva abiding in the great supreme Dharma position, on top of eliminating the manifest hindrance of pride, there is also the favorable condition of generating the supreme bodhicitta, so path knowledge can actually arise. Through separate exclusion, it is shown that although the Hearer and Solitary Realizer Arhats have abandoned all afflictions, they cannot actually generate path knowledge because they do not have the favorable condition of generating the supreme bodhicitta. Then, will path knowledge never arise in the minds of those who have become detached from desire for the realm of nothingness and below through worldly paths, and in the minds of Hearer and Solitary Realizer Arhats? If you think so, then "pervasion," etc., shows that path knowledge also arises for these two, because ultimately they are definitely bound for the One Vehicle, so it shows that these people also must cultivate path knowledge in order to obtain the omniscient wisdom taught in the first instance. Therefore, if the meaning of pervasion is explained as being pervaded by the naturally abiding lineage, it contradicts the treatises of both Holy Lion. Dividing the cause into three and explaining it as the immediate cause is also the same in meaning as that, so it is not reasonable, because the basis of the first two branches, the person, and the basis of this, the person, are different bases. Therefore, the first two branches explain the accumulation of causes for actual arising, and this one, by cutting off doubts about those, shows the way in which those who cannot actually arise also arise indirectly, so those with wisdom, please examine carefully. Then, if it is necessary to eliminate the manifest afflictions included in pride in order for path knowledge to actually arise, then does path knowledge itself intentionally seek and abandon the afflictions included in desire and attachment? The answer to that question is, the second branch of nature is nature, which shows that path knowledge does not intentionally seek and abandon afflictions, because those afflictions are needed as the cause for taking birth in existence for the sake of others, so not intentionally seeking and abandoning afflictions, that is the path knowledge's

is its own nature. Thus it is taught. So what is affliction? Regarding this, some consider it to be the nature of affliction, others consider it to be the imprints of affliction, and some consider it to be affliction associated with virtuous roots, there are three kinds. Among them, the first is eliminated because affliction has already been abandoned from the first ground. The second is also contradictory because the two obscurations are specifically cultivated and abandoned by the two aspects of the Ratnagotravibhāga, and the identification of the obscuration of knowledge as the imprints of affliction is made, so it is contradictory to specifically cultivate and not abandon it. Therefore, it is reasonable as the third one is considered by many previous scholars and the accomplished scholar Yakpa, that is, it is seized by the wisdom that realizes emptiness, and aroused by the compassion that focuses on sentient beings, so the desire or craving to consciously take birth in samsara for the sake of others is the affliction associated with virtuous roots that is taught here as not to be abandoned. In the Sutra Requested by Sagaramati, it is one of the eight afflictions associated with virtuous roots. Regarding this, the reason for designating it with the name of affliction, the necessity of designation, the harm to reality, the reason for generating doubt about being abandoned, showing it to others as being abandoned, analyzing other places of doubt, and combining it with the scriptures that establish it, there are seven points. The first point is that just as affliction binds beings to the three realms, this (affliction associated with virtuous roots) also binds Bodhisattvas to the three realms. The second point is to show that the skillful means of Bodhisattvas are superior to those of Hearers, that is, to know that the skillful means of Bodhisattvas can transform unafflicted afflictions into the path to enlightenment. The third is not the nature of affliction, because it is seized by the special skillful wisdom in the continuum of Bodhisattvas, so it can be transformed into the Mahayana path, and it is one of the aspects of purification in the eighth ground. The fourth point is, if one thinks, is such a special path to be abandoned? If there is no such doubt, then it is not necessary to say "specifically cultivate and not abandon it with the wisdom of the path", if you think like this, it is not so, because all samsara is shown to be abandoned.
