This contradicts the two sutras that were quoted. The purification of the second ground is: discipline, doing good, joy, and patience. That is to say, there are three aspects here: the basis is discipline, the intention is excellent, and the behavior is excellent. First, discipline, which is what Asanga considers to be solely the discipline of abstaining from misdeeds. The teacher, however, follows Vasubandhu's view and considers it to include all three disciplines. Second, doing good, enduring harm, extreme joy, and great compassion, there are four. Third, respect, respectful listening to the guru, and diligence in giving, etc., there are three. Here, the main emphasis is on discipline, because in the post-attainment of the second ground, the perfection of discipline is more excellent, and the training in the discipline is practiced. The purification of the third ground is: never being satisfied with listening, etc. In the post-attainment of the third ground, the thought arises that all sentient beings should be liberated from the ocean of samsara, which is a natural manifestation. To achieve this goal, unobstructed wisdom is needed. To eliminate obstacles, wisdom is needed. The root of wisdom is samadhi. To obtain samadhi, one needs to be skilled in the classification of samadhi. For this purpose, one needs to hear the Dharma, so one must highly value listening. At that time, even for the meaning of a four-line verse, one would be willing to pay a price greater than turning the three thousand great thousand worlds into a single flame. Therefore, two things will arise: never being satisfied with listening and generously giving the Dharma to others. When hearing the Buddha's teachings, one will see the Buddha's pure land and wish to obtain it, thereby purifying all Buddha lands. When giving the Dharma to others, one will be able to endure heretical teachings and will not be weary of samsara. When striving for the benefit of others, one will realize that the perfection of one's own benefit is necessary, thereby generating a sense of shame and embarrassment. The so-called "self-nature without arrogance" means without attachment. Here, never being satisfied with listening means that in the post-attainment of the third ground, the training in samadhi is practiced. And not being weary of samsara means that the perfection of patience is more excellent. The purification of the fourth ground is: dwelling in the forest, having few desires, being content, etc. Here, there are also ten, which can be summarized into six aspects: consciousness

. Conduct is completely pure, attention is completely pure, activity is completely pure, emptiness is completely pure, yoga is completely pure. The first is dwelling in the forest, having few desires, and being content, these three. The second is taking up the twelve qualities of purification and not abandoning the training, these two. The twelve qualities of purification are three related to food, three related to clothing, five related to dwelling, and one related to conduct. The first is begging for alms to prevent attachment to good food, eating one meal to prevent eating again and again, and not taking more later. Begging for alms involves going from door to door in order and taking whatever is obtained. Eating one meal involves the end of eating, drinking water, and the mat. Not taking more later involves the end of taking and eating. In terms of clothing, wearing rag robes to prevent attachment to good clothing, wearing felt to prevent attachment to soft clothing, and having three Dharma robes to prevent attachment to many. In terms of dwelling, dwelling in a secluded place to prevent attachment to crowded places, having no roof to prevent attachment to having a roof, dwelling under a tree to prevent attachment to being surrounded, dwelling in a charnel ground to prevent attachment to the convenience of dwelling, and dwelling wherever is suitable to prevent attachment to many. In terms of conduct, constantly sitting upright to prevent attachment to sleeping and so on. The third is denouncing all desires. The fourth is inclining towards nirvana. The fifth is giving away all possessions. The sixth is being fearless and having no sectarian views. Here, the main teachings of having few desires, being content, and taking up the twelve qualities of purification are the meaning of increasing diligence as a perfection in the subsequent attainment of the fourth ground, and inclining towards nirvana is the meaning of training wisdom by being skilled in the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment. The complete purification of the fifth ground is attachment to friends and family, and so on. Here, the ten things to be abandoned are also condensed into four: impure intention and action, impure dwelling, improper conduct, and abandoning the root afflictions. The first is abandoning attachment to friends and family, these two. The second
