Because of this. This is also the view of other valid treatises, such as in the chapter on the Bodhisattva's precepts, the three precepts of abandoning misdeeds, accumulating virtues, and benefiting sentient beings are said to be entering into the mind of enlightenment, because there is no practice of a Bodhisattva that is not included in these three. Secondly, the view of the Sakya masters is that, in general, aspiration has three aspects: the mind of aspiration, the aspiration for enlightenment, and the protection of aspiration from degeneration. Similarly, entry has three aspects: the mind of entry, the aspiration for enlightenment, and the protection of entry from degeneration. The difference between aspiration and entry is that one desires to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of sentient beings, and the other desires to practice the path in order to attain Buddhahood. When these two minds arise in the mindstream, they are merely the mind of aspiration and entry when they are not held by vows, and they are the mind of aspiration and entry when they are held by vows. All practices from then on are the protection of aspiration from degeneration and the protection of entry from degeneration. This is the view. Therefore, the arising of the characteristic mind of aspiration and entry is simultaneous with entering the Mahayana path of accumulation, because the arising of the characteristic mind of aspiration and entry must give rise to the mind of enlightenment held by vows in the mindstream, and when it arises, it must give rise to the mind of enlightenment held by the activity of going, and that itself is entering the path. For example, when the Buddha Shakyamuni was born as a jailer pulling the chariot of hell, he was said to have generated the mind of enlightenment. Like this, saying that there is a mind of enlightenment without entering the path refers to the mere mind of aspiration and entry. If it is the characteristic mind of enlightenment, then there is no contradiction in entering the path at that time. The two minds of aspiration and entry, once they have arisen in the mindstream, remain as one entity until the end of existence, because when the two arise simultaneously, the mere mind of aspiration and entry is the mental factor of desire, and the main aspect of the mind of aspiration and entry is that it is established on the intention to abandon the opposing factors. Therefore, when the intention becomes the mind of aspiration and the mind of entry, that and the corresponding mental activity

Everything is for the sake of transforming into two bodhicittas. If one thinks that the mental activity that is the nature of aspiration bodhicitta is a different entity, and that there are two mental activities that are the nature of entering bodhicitta, so it is not certain whether they are the same nature, that is unreasonable. Because it is impossible for two mental activities of different entities to exist simultaneously in the retinue of one main mind. Then, if the two bodhicittas of aspiration and entry arise in the continuum, and then a root downfall occurs, then those two bodhicittas cannot be abandoned. Because the arising of bodhicitta and the attainment of the Mahayana accumulation path are simultaneous, and it is impossible to attain the Mahayana accumulation path and not enter the path. If you ask this, even in the stage of the accumulation path, one can fall into the lower realms by losing the precepts due to a root downfall. If one does not abandon the desire to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of sentient beings, one has not abandoned the root of the vows, and there is no fault of not being on the path. If aspiration and entering bodhicitta are characterized, they need to be grasped by vows. If so, it contradicts what is said in the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life": "From the mind of aspiring to enlightenment, although the fruits of samsara are great, like the continuous power of the mind of entering, the increase of merit is not so." If you ask this, there is no fault. Because aspiration mind refers to the aspiration mind that is not grasped by vows. And "like the continuous power of the mind of entering" refers to being grasped by vows and entering the path. Because at the end of that treatise it says: "From that time on, in order to liberate the infinite realms of sentient beings, with the power of an irreversible mind, those who truly uphold that mind, from that time on, even if they sleep or are careless, the power of merit, without interruption, constantly increases, and is as vast as the sky." Therefore, there is no contradiction. If aspiration and entering bodhicitta are characterized, there is no difference between the Mahayana accumulation path and the end of the continuum. If so, it contradicts what is said in the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life": "The difference between wanting to go and going, just as knowing that there is a difference between knowing and wanting to go, so the wise should gradually know the difference between these two." If you ask this, there is no fault. Because that treatise is from entering the Mahayana path to not attaining Buddhahood, the mind of wanting to go to enlightenment.
