Firstly, Ḍārṭīka says, "Our own tenet is that all sentient beings attain Buddhahood. Having vowed that samsara has an end, it follows that there will be a time when all sentient beings have become Buddhas, because all sentient beings become Buddhas." And, "It follows that there will be a time when all sentient beings are completely non-existent, because samsara has an end." To this, he greatly agrees, because there will be a time when there are no sentient beings, because at its second moment, it does not exist. If it is not established, all sentient beings, are the subject. You become permanent entities. Whatever you are, arising from your own cause, you exist at your second moment. It follows that there will be a time when all sentient beings never exist, and it follows that there will be a time when they are all completely cut off, because samsara has an end." To this, he says, "The answer is that the pervasion is not established." If so, it follows that there will be a time when all noble Bodhisattvas do not exist, because there will be a time when all sentient beings do not exist. If you accept, it follows that there will be a Sambhogakaya at the time when the noble Bodhisattvas do not exist, because that time is that of the Sambhogakaya. The sign is accepted. If you accept, the Sambhogakaya at that time, is the subject. It follows that the definite retinue is surrounded only by noble Bodhisattvas, because it is a Sambhogakaya. If you accept, it follows that if it is a Sambhogakaya, it is pervaded by the retinue being surrounded only by noble Bodhisattvas, because of that acceptance. If you accept, it follows that the Sambhogakaya at the time when the noble Bodhisattvas do not exist does not exist, because of that acceptance. The sign is directly negated. Again, it follows that there will be a time when all sentient beings never exist, because at its second moment, they all never exist. If it is not established, all sentient beings, are the subject. It follows that you are a permanent entity. Whatever arises from your own cause, you always exist at your second moment. Again, it follows that there will be a time when there are no sentient beings, because there will be a time when they have all become Buddhas. It follows that it is impossible for all sentient beings to be exhausted, because it is impossible for their continuum to be cut off. If you accept, it follows that samsara has no end. Secondly, in general, samsara has no end, because it is impossible for all sentient beings to be exhausted, because it is impossible for the fully enlightened Buddhas not to perform the benefit of others, because as long as space is not exhausted, sentient beings will not be exhausted, because it is impossible for space to be exhausted. For the time being, that much is enough.

If one has an understanding that takes reason as a reliable basis, there is no reason why one would not understand this. Third, some disagree that samsara has no end, because the Catuhsataka says, "Just as a seed can be seen to have an end, but it has no beginning, so too, because the cause is incomplete, there will be no arising." And the Rigs gter says, "Although a seed has no beginning, when burned by fire, its end can be seen. Similarly, although samsara has no beginning, seeing selflessness, its end can be seen." They say this. Some argue that the meaning of these two quotes refers to the samsara of those who see selflessness having an end, because the state of attaining liberation is the end of their samsara, and not that the samsara of all sentient beings has an end. This is unreasonable, because there is no difference between whether the samsara of those who see selflessness has an end and whether the samsara of all sentient beings has an end. The previous view is also unreasonable, because it has already been argued that samsara has no end. So, what is the meaning of these quotes? It means that when any sentient being cultivates the path, when habituation reaches perfection, that being's continuum has an end. And the meaning of samsara having no end is that samsara is inexhaustible. If it were exhausted, it would be necessary to be able to determine the end of the number, but even the perfect Buddha has not determined the end of the number of sentient beings. In the context of generating bodhicitta as samsara, when identifying the afflictions that are said here to be specially cultivated and not abandoned, there are three: refutation, establishment, and abandonment. First, refuting the nature of afflictions; refuting compassion and bodhicitta, etc.; and refuting the arising of samsara. The first is: Some argue that it is the nature of afflictions, because it is an affliction that shravakas need to make special effort to abandon. Because path-wisdom is distinguished from the shravaka path by not abandoning the afflictions that are said here to be specially cultivated. Moreover, it is the nature of afflictions, because the afflictions held by the wisdom in the continuum of noble bodhisattvas are the nature of afflictions, just as poison held by medicine and mantras is poison.
