Chapter Two: An Analysis of the Difficult Points of the Knowledge of the Path Chapter Two: An Analysis of the Difficult Points of the Knowledge of the Path All aspects of the objects of the paths of the three vehicles, Having perfectly understood with skillful, objectless wisdom, Possessing the glory of accomplishing the excellent fruit of omniscience, To the Queen of Knowing All Paths, I prostrate. Understanding all aspects of knowledge itself is the Knowledge of the Path. In this chapter, the opinion of the translator-teacher is that all five dharmas in this chapter are distinctions of the individual who is the basis for the arising of the Knowledge of the Path. If one is the basis for that individual, then one must possess five characteristics: being free from manifest obstructive pride, the causal condition of generating bodhicitta, the possessive condition of having lineage, the nature of not abandoning samsara by deliberately pursuing it, and the distinction of activities that accomplish the benefit of others. If one is merely an individual who is the basis for the arising of the Knowledge of the Path, then are those five characteristics pervasive with it? If one is an individual who is the basis for the actual arising of the Knowledge of the Path, then are those five characteristics pervasive with it? According to the former, a person who has not entered the path, the subject, should be so, therefore. According to the latter, if one is an individual who is the basis for the actual arising of the Knowledge of the Path, then it follows that it is pervasive with deliberately pursuing afflictive obscurations and not abandoning them. If that is the case, then it follows that it is pervasive with the nature in the chapter "Nature and..." The sign is accepted. It is pervasive because it is said that "that which is not completely abandoned from all afflictions is nature." If one accepts it in the root text, then a bodhisattva who abides in the supreme dharma position of the path of joining of a bodhisattva, the subject, should be so, therefore. If one accepts it, then it follows that he should deliberately pursue and abandon it. Because he deliberately pursues and cultivates the realization that understands the selflessness of persons. If it is not established, then it should be so, because he must directly realize the selflessness of persons on the first ground. Furthermore, he should deliberately pursue and abandon it. In the Bodhisattva Grounds, it is said that compared to the Hearers, bodhisattvas exert a hundred million times more effort in abandoning afflictions. Moreover, in the first chapter, because of the result, the activity of gathering sentient beings who have not been gathered, etc., that activity should not be the activity of the Knowledge of the Path. In the second chapter, gathering sentient beings who have not been gathered.

Because it is "is doing" and so on, so the "doing" at that time is not the "doing" of the path-wisdom. Thesis. Therefore, in the *Nyi Snang*, it says: "The first three are the distinctions of the person who is the basis for the arising of path-wisdom, the latter two are the distinctions of path-wisdom itself, it is good to establish it that way." To this, someone says: "The nature that is taught from the time of 'nature and' etc., is the subject. You are not a limb of path-wisdom, because you are the essence of path-wisdom." If it is said like that, then the noble eightfold path, is the subject. It is not a limb of the noble path, because it is its essence. Again, some say: "With light, make it dim." etc. In the root and commentary, it says: "The light of the essence of the Thus-Gone One makes the light of the ripening of gods etc. dim, is the subject. There is a need, because in order to know that the realization of path-wisdom only arises in the continuum of a person who is free from manifest arrogance." And "place is definite" etc., in the root and commentary it says: "Path-wisdom, is the subject. Your place of actual arising is definitely separate, because you actually arise in the continuum of a person who has generated the supreme bodhicitta, you do not actually arise in the continuum of a person who has not generated it." If it is established like that, then if the person who is the basis for the actual arising of path-wisdom is, then it is pervaded by destroying the manifest arrogance of obstacles. Because the previous syllogism is the meaning syllogism of that text. If it is accepted, then the person who has generated the supreme bodhicitta, is the subject. It is that. Because of that reason. If it is accepted, then it is not that. Because you and not destroying it have a common basis, because the bodhisattva on the accumulation path is the common basis of you and not destroying it. Some people, in the later syllogism, "the person who has generated the supreme bodhicitta is the person who is the basis for the actual arising of path-wisdom," because of the previous reason of the meaning of the words. If it is accepted, then that, is the subject. It is not that. Because you and not that have a common basis, because the Mahayana accumulation path person is the common basis of you and not that. Having refuted like that, in one's own system, the place of actual arising of path-wisdom is definitely separate, because if the person who is the basis for the actual arising of path-wisdom is, then it must be someone who has generated bodhicitta, it is said like that.
