It can be understood in this way. If according to the first way, then the Arhats of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas will not attain Buddhahood, because their continuums do not have the Bodhicitta of the Mahayana. If this is admitted, then it will ultimately lead to the establishment of the Three Vehicles, and the meaning of scriptures such as "the other yogi must also attain Buddhahood" will not be established. If according to the latter way, then the collection of causes for the wisdom of Buddhahood must be complete in the continuums of all sentient beings, because these two factors exist in their continuums. Therefore, the meaning of the complete collection of causes does not refer to the completeness of the moments before and after the collection of causes, because if that were the case, the complete collection of causes would be impossible. The second point is that all sentient beings will attain Buddhahood, because the seed of the cause of Buddhahood exists in the continuums of all sentient beings, the favorable condition is that the activity of the Buddha can enter, and the unfavorable condition is that obscurations can be eliminated. The first reason is established, because the Ratnagotravibhāga says: "The perfect Buddha body is manifested, and the Dharmata is undifferentiated, because sentient beings have the lineage, they always have the Tathāgatagarbha." The second reason is established, because it is necessary for the perfect Buddha to benefit sentient beings until Samsara is empty. The third reason is established, if obscurations cannot be eliminated, is it because they are permanent and therefore cannot be eliminated? Or although they are impermanent, they cannot be eliminated because there is no antidote to eliminate them? Or although there is an antidote, they cannot be eliminated because they do not understand it? If according to the first way, that is unreasonable, because there is a cause that produces it. The second way is also not true, because the root of obscurations is self-grasping, so there is the wisdom of realizing selflessness that is the antidote to it. The third way is also not true, because knowing that the root of obscurations is self-grasping, one can know that the antidote to it is the wisdom of realizing selflessness. As the Pramāṇavārttika says: "Because of permanence or because of no means, or because of not knowing the means, faults cannot be exhausted, if one thinks about it comprehensively, because there is a cause, and the antidote to the cause is exhausted through familiarity." The third point is, the ṭīkā says, if a sentient being attains Buddhahood, then the time when the sentient being has already attained Buddhahood does not universally exist, because things

It is said that even if all the lands are destroyed, there is no time when they are all completely destroyed. The Daratika commentator says: It is very desirable that there is a time when all things are completely destroyed, because there is a time when all things do not exist, because the non-existence of things is possible. If it is considered reasonable that there is a difference between things existing up to this point and things not existing after this point, because it is possible for all things to be completely destroyed. Then, it is reasonable that there is a difference between blue existing up to this point and blue not existing after this point, because it is possible for all blue to be completely destroyed. If it is not established, then blue, as a dharma, you should become a permanent thing, because you are produced from a cause, it is impossible for you to be completely destroyed. So it is said. Then, the time when things do not exist should exist, because things do not exist at the time of the fruit of things. Acknowledge this reason. If you admit it, then that time should not be a thing. Again, time, as a dharma, you should become a permanent thing, because you are produced from a cause, it is impossible for you to be completely destroyed. Again, the Daratika commentator says: In the commentary, it is said that if all sentient beings become Buddhas, then the time when all sentient beings have become Buddhas pervades all sentient beings who have died, because they all pervade death. This will not become a fault, because the former says that the time when sentient beings become Buddhas is possible, but it does not say that all sentient beings pervade Buddhahood. If so, then we will not say such a fault either, but say that the time when everything has died is possible, but not that it pervades death. Again, the Daratika commentator says: Some say that all sentient beings become Buddhas, but they do not necessarily become Buddhas, which is a self-contradictory promise, because do you think that the certainty that all sentient beings become Buddhas is guided by the power of the measure or not? If it is guided, then all sentient beings must become Buddhas, and if it is not guided, then establishing a proposition with a meaning that is not certain by the measure is a laughable matter. So it is said. If this is promised, then this fault will arise, but it is not promised that it is not certain to become a Buddha, because becoming a Buddha and being certain to become a Buddha have the same meaning. Fourth, extending from that, examining whether samsara has an end or not, there are three types: refutation, establishment, and abandonment.
