There are five ways of considering: considering as one, considering as two, considering as four, considering as nine, and considering as sixteen. The first is that Nagarjuna, based on seeing the nature of reality, considers it as one instant. In the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning," it says: "Under the knowledge of dharma, if there is a distinction in this, who would analyze the arising of extremely subtle things? The unskilled one does not see the meaning of arising from conditions." Therefore, it is said. Some say that this text shows two instants because it does not say that there is no difference under the forbearance of dharma, but shows that there is no difference under the knowledge of dharma. To say this is to speak nonsense without seeing the commentary. The knowledge of dharma here is not the knowledge of dharma that is divided into forbearance of dharma and knowledge of dharma, but dharma is by nature nirvana, is dependent arising, is without arising or ceasing. Knowledge is the realization of that manifest understanding. In the commentary, it says: "The word dharma refers to nirvana. It is none other than the nature of dependent arising." And, "The knowledge that fully utilizes the nature of dependent arising and nirvana, which are inseparable, is the knowledge of dharma, because the object of knowledge of dharma is called the knowledge of dharma." In this way, the knowledge of dharma that focuses on dependent arising, which is without arising and without ceasing, the three truths, the nature of dependent arising is unborn, and seeing that nirvana is also its nature, so it is only one realization. The establishment of fifteen and sixteen instants is a division from the perspective of reversing from that itself. Even according to those who consider fifteen instants, it is for the benefit of teaching those to be tamed in such a way. The essence of wisdom is one, but it is divided into fifteen parts to be established. If so, then the sixteen aspects of the path of meditation, for those who desire liberation, are established in order to become accustomed to entering the establishment of the path itself, so this is fully examined and established, and that itself is one essence. The second...

Ladar Ṭīkapa said: In the Mahāyāna path of seeing, when the dharma-kṣānti (patience/acceptance of dharma) arises for suffering, the eight kṣāntis arise as one entity, because from the aspect of not fearing the dharmatā (nature of dharma) of the four truths, there are four dharma-kṣāntis, and from the aspect of not fearing the wisdom that directly realizes it, there are four anukṣāntis (subsequent patience/acceptance), because they are distinguished from the opposite perspective. Therefore, in the stage of kṣānti, one does not attain cessation truth and the path of liberation through sudden freedom from defilements, and when it arises in the continuum, there are four dharma-jñānas (dharma-knowledges) that realize the dharmatā of the four truths as objects, and four anujñānas (subsequent knowledges) that realize the wisdom itself as the subject; these eight jñānas arise as one entity. In this regard, with one samāhita (meditative equipoise) that directly realizes the truth, that one moment itself arises as the nature of the sixteen moments of jñāna-kṣānti. They do not accept the term of anukṣānti arising under dharma-jñāna, etc. Therefore, since the Mahāyāna path of seeing is determined as two, kṣānti and jñāna, it is reasonable that the person who abides in kṣānti is an enterer, and the difference of the person who abides in jñāna is the state of fruition, they say. It is not reasonable, the eight jñānas of the Mahāyāna path of seeing, are dharma, becoming the nature of the uncommon Mahāyāna path of seeing mentioned above, because it is the object to be expressed. If it is not established, then the eight kṣāntis of the Mahāyāna will also become not the uncommon Mahāyāna path of seeing. If you want the root, then as before. Again, the eight jñānas of the Mahāyāna path of seeing, are dharma, becoming not directly realizing the subject wisdom that realizes the dharmatā of the four truths as objects, because it is the wisdom of the learning path that directly realizes the dharmatā of the four truths as objects. All three are accepted. Again, the Mahāyāna path of seeing, with one samāhita that directly realizes the truth, that one moment itself does not arise as the nature of the sixteen moments of jñāna-kṣānti, because the Mahāyāna path of seeing does not have the sixteen moments of jñāna-kṣānti. If it is not established, then it contradicts the determination of two moments. Furthermore, in the Mahāyāna path of seeing, it is reasonable that the person who abides in the path dharma-jñāna is the state of fruition, and the difference of the person who abides in the path anukṣānti is the enterer, because the Mahāyāna path of seeing abides in the eight kṣāntis.
