Having realized the absence of self, the proof remains as before. The Mind-Only school believes that the apprehended absence of self of phenomena is never realized, because the realization of the apprehended absence of self of phenomena is attributed only to the category of realization of the Great Vehicle. Sixth, there are two aspects: refutation and establishment. The first is: Some say that a Pratyekabuddha establishes the first and last fruits, but the two intermediate ones cannot be established, because if one is a Pratyekabuddha, then one is a sudden abandonment of what is to be abandoned. If you think so, then the reason is not established. A Pratyekabuddha like a rhinoceros horn is not a sudden abandonment of what is to be abandoned, and the accumulation behavior of ordinary beings in the past is also not sudden. If the first is not established, then, that dharma, you should have abandoned the ninth bhava-nirvana before the path of seeing. You think that you have abandoned the ninth bhava-nirvana there, which is not established. The first reason is there, you should have obtained the essence of the fourth dhyana there, as the Treasury of Knowledge says: "Sages and rhinoceros horns, enlightenment in one dhyana, all obtain it." If the latter of the root reason is not established, then, the accumulation behavior of ordinary beings in the past, you should be a Shravaka, on the basis of obtaining the body of the path of seeing, manifesting the fruit of Arhat, which is not established. Omniscience, as the Compendium of Topics says: "Most of them obtain omniscience at the time of seeing the Dharma or at the time of death, and if they cannot obtain it, they are also those with the power of aspiration, and when there is no Buddha appearing, they will become Pratyekabuddhas." The latter reason is true. The former should be the opposite, because he has not obtained the path of seeing in a body of one birth. In addition, establishing the first and last fruits for a Pratyekabuddha, and not establishing the intermediate fruits, is this established for the Pratyekabuddha himself? Or is it established for his fellow learners? If it is the former, then, that dharma, you and the stream-enterer do not have a common basis, because you are an Arhat. If it is the latter, then the fellow learners of the Pratyekabuddha can establish the two intermediate fruits, because he is a gradual abandonment of what is to be abandoned, because he is a Shravaka. The proof of this will appear below. The second is: The Pratyekabuddha himself cannot establish the two intermediate fruits, because if so, then he is an Arhat. His fellow learners

For those who are in the state of learning, there are two intermediate fruits: that is, having abandoned all that is abandoned by the path of seeing and the first three of what is abandoned by the path of cultivation, but not having abandoned the sixth level of desire realm afflictions; having abandoned the sixth level of desire realm afflictions, but not having abandoned the ninth level of desire realm afflictions; having abandoned the ninth level of desire realm afflictions, but not having abandoned even a little of the afflictions of the upper realms; and not having abandoned the ninth level of existence realm afflictions. Therefore, the three types of Pratyekabuddha lineages spoken of from their respective grounds should also be understood accordingly. Seventh, it is proven by scripture, proven by reason, and refutes arguments that Pratyekabuddhas do not need to learn. First, in the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, the Shravakas are divided into Stream-enterer, Once-returner, Non-returner, and Arhat, as well as Pratyekabuddhas, but no distinction is made for Pratyekabuddhas. In the Samantabhadra's Prayer, it says, "All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, Pratyekabuddhas, Shravakas, and all those who are learning," dividing the Mahayana and Shravakas into two types, learners and non-learners, but no distinction is made for Pratyekabuddhas. At the beginning of the Sutras, when explaining the perfect retinue, the Sangha of Shravakas and Bodhisattvas are distinguished, but no classification is made for Pratyekabuddhas. In the Ornament of the Sutras, it says, "The collections can be three or two," from the perspective of what is to be explained, there are the three collections such as the Vinaya; from the perspective of the objects to be tamed, there are the Shravaka collection and the Mahayana collection, but no classification is made for the Pratyekabuddha collection. In the root text, it says, "Rhinoceros horn and twenty," dividing the Shravaka Sangha into nineteen types, but no distinction is made for Pratyekabuddhas. In the Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way, it also says, "When the Buddhas do not appear in the world, and the Shravaka disciples have passed away, then without a teacher, self-awakening arises." And in the Ratnagotravibhāga, it says, "Three manifestations of the three noble ones, five through the door of learners and non-learners," dividing the Mahayana and Shravakas into two types of yogic manifestations, learners and non-learners, but no distinction is made for Pratyekabuddhas. These are the scriptures that say Pratyekabuddhas do not learn. Although there are many such examples, I have not written them here for fear of too many words. For distinguishing milk in water, just like the beak of a swan, for meaningful holy...
