Having heard "Thus, etc.," and "Profound and obscure, causing fear, etc.," to explain. Even so, if the object to be cultivated is not understood, then it is necessary to explain in detail with the reasoning explained in the scriptures. Secondly, if, as the former wise men said, the basis of Madhyamaka is summarized as the union of the two truths, the path of Madhyamaka is summarized as the union of the two accumulations, and the fruit of Madhyamaka is summarized as the union of the two bodies, then, firstly, of the two, the establishment of the conventional and the establishment of the ultimate, the first case is: If one first studies the tenets of the two Hearer schools, and before the view of Cittamatra arises, one becomes a Madhyamaka, then in name one accepts external objects, but it is impossible to accept what can withstand rational analysis. If one first studies the view of Cittamatra and then becomes a Madhyamaka, then in name one accepts that appearances are the nature of mind, but one does not accept what can withstand rational analysis. If one has not studied the tenets of the Realist school and becomes a Madhyamaka from the beginning, then the establishment of names is as the venerable Chandrakirti accepted, accepting without examination as it is commonly said in the world. The meaning of unexamined is that it is not examined by the reasoning that examines reality, but not by the valid cognition of names. Because it is necessary to distinguish and accept each establishment according to how the valid cognition of names measures what is and is not, what exists and does not exist, and so on. Therefore, some ancient people thought that even in the establishment of names, they accepted neither existence nor non-existence, which is not the intention of the scriptures. Because in the category of names, it must be admitted that rice seeds produce rice sprouts, not barley sprouts, and that fire is hot and burns, while water is hot but does not burn. When examining reality, there is no difference between the two, which is understood by the reasoning that prevents other-birth. The meaning of establishing the conventional as it is commonly said in the world is that it appears to the spontaneous mind of the world that is not confused by sudden illusions, and according to the appearance, the subsequent names are "This is this," "This is not that," and it is only accepting this naming method, and not seeking other proofs. For example, admitting that seeds can produce sprouts

If asked, how is it established? Just as the appearance of a sprout arising from a seed is perceived in the mind, it is merely a subsequent designation. If other means of establishment, such as self-origination and other-origination, are posited, they are subject to logical refutation. Therefore, the inability to find a sprout arising from a seed is the crucial point. Thus, regarding the manner in which actions produce results, it is merely an appearance in the mind, and there is no other means of establishment. If other means of establishment are sought, they are limited to two possibilities: arising from contact or arising without contact. If the former is the case, actions would become permanent. If the latter is the case, the fault of everything arising from everything else would be seen. Therefore, proponents of substantial existence accept a basis for actions and results in order to avoid the latter fault. The Vaibhashikas, who believe that destruction is the basis for actions and results, do not go beyond this. When I analyze contact and non-contact, I do not even accept that actions produce results, so there is no need to accept a basis for actions and results. Please abandon debates about whether or not this aligns with the views of the venerable Chandrakirti, and whether it is premature or belated, and examine the root text and commentary of the *Madhyamakavatara* with an impartial mind. Similarly, when a person's eye consciousness sees a bowl filled with water, the water exists because it appears to the eye consciousness. Pus and blood do not exist because they do not appear. So, if one sees pus and blood in the realm of the hungry ghosts, how do the pus and blood exist? In the presence of that eye consciousness, the pus and blood exist, and the water does not, just as before. But for a consciousness other than these two, it should be understood that neither exists. Secondly, regarding the establishment of ultimate truth, there are two types: the ultimate truth that accords with reasoning, and the ultimate truth characterized by the way things appear to noble ones in meditative equipoise, free from elaboration. The first is as stated in the *Bodhicharyavatara*: "This is the cause of suffering, so attachment to reality should be averted." And as stated in the *Dharmadhatu Stotra*: "Because of clinging to 'I' and 'mine,' and the external conceptualizations, having seen the two aspects of selflessness, the seeds of existence will be extinguished." As it is said, the clinging to reality that arises from clinging to phenomena as real, the clinging to reality that clings to the person as real, is the root of all faults, so this clinging to reality
