A Moonbeam on the Crucial Point of Discriminating Views, the Supreme Vehicle. A Moonbeam on the Crucial Point of Discriminating Views, the Supreme Vehicle. A treatise called "A Moonbeam on the Crucial Point of Discriminating Views, the Supreme Vehicle" is present. A treatise called "A Moonbeam on the Crucial Point of Discriminating Views, the Supreme Vehicle." I prostrate to the Lama and Protector Manjushri! With the emerald horse of the wisdom mandala of compassion, according to what is appropriate for the beings to be tamed, the glorious light of the activities that guide them in order, we have faith in that Buddha Sun. If one understands according to the levels of intelligence, that which bestows the enlightenment of the three vehicles, this Middle Way that abandons the extremes of permanence and annihilation, here in the land of snows, there are different realizations. Among them, according to the tenets of Nagarjuna's heart essence, this is indeed the authentic view, relying on the scriptures of the holy ones, this distinction is what I will speak. In general, all four schools of tenets assert that the path explained from their respective tenets is the Middle Way that abandons permanence and annihilation, and at that time, those who assert substantial existence do not call the last of the four schools the Middle Way, but call it the one who asserts no self-nature. However, the Yogins also, due to the difference in intelligence, the higher ones refute the lower ones. In this way, the Madhyamikas believe that no matter how the lower schools abandon the extremes of permanence and annihilation, because they assert that things exist by their own nature, they have not transcended either extreme of permanence and annihilation. Therefore, in order to accomplish any of the three enlightenments, it is necessary to abandon the extremes of permanence and annihilation in this way. Thus, they establish treatises on how to abandon the extremes of permanence and annihilation from their own established tenets, and thereby establish how to accomplish the three enlightenments. Among them, the great Madhyamika masters of India made many different distinctions in the way of explaining the treatises and in the establishment of terminology, but it does not seem that they made different distinctions in the crucial point of the ultimate view. Here in the land of snows, although the Madhyamika view is verbally acknowledged, there appear to be three differences in the crucial point of the ultimate view: namely, asserting the extreme of permanence as the Middle Way, asserting the extreme of annihilation as the Middle Way, and asserting the absence of extremes as the Middle Way. (Explaining the system of asserting the extreme of permanence as the Middle Way.) The first view is that wisdom and compassion are outstanding and

According to the view of Kunkhyen Dolpopa Sherab Gyaltsen, who possesses the power of accomplishment and realization, emptiness is of two types: emptiness of self-nature and emptiness of other-nature. Truth is also of two types: conventional truth and ultimate truth. Nature is also of three types: the completely imputed, the dependent, and the thoroughly established. Among these, the completely imputed and the dependent are conventional truth. Whatever is conventional truth is, like dreams and illusions, empty of its own nature from the very beginning. Therefore, their emptiness is called emptiness of self-nature. This is merely the nature of negating non-existence, so it is annihilationist emptiness, inert emptiness, and temporary emptiness, not the true, non-inverted emptiness, the ultimate truth. Considering this conventional self-emptiness, the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra states that all phenomena from form to omniscience are empty of their own nature. The commentaries on this, such as the collections of reasoning by Nagarjuna, also mainly explain self-emptiness, non-affirming negation, and annihilationist emptiness. However, these sutras and treatises do not fully and clearly explain the ultimate truth. The Perfection of Wisdom Sutra states that all phenomena from form to omniscience do not exist. The completely imputed, illusions, and dreams are taught with reference to the dependent nature. It is not that the thoroughly established, ultimate truth does not exist, or that it is false. The Condensed Meaning of the Eight Thousand Stanza Sutra states: "By the word 'non-existence,' all imputations are negated; by examples such as illusions, the dependent is fully shown; having shown the fourfold purity, the thoroughly established is shown." Therefore, the nature of reality, the thoroughly established, ultimate truth, is not empty of its own nature, but because the nature of the completely imputed, the dependent, and the conditioned phenomena are empty of conventional nature, it is empty of other-nature. This is the true, non-inverted emptiness, the ultimate truth, the Dharmakaya, the true limit, suchness, and the supreme of all aspects.
