Therefore. The meaning of the second passage is: If in the Hearer Vehicle, non-self is taught for phenomena that are without inherent existence, then does it become meaningless to teach the Great Vehicle? It does not, because the Great Vehicle does not only teach non-self for phenomena that are without inherent existence, but also teaches the ten grounds and the perfections, etc. That is its meaning. Among these, the realization of the ten grounds through the manner of the all-pervasive Dharmadhatu, and the perfection of wisdom among the six perfections, and not clinging to characteristics in aspirations and dedications, and compassion without an object in great compassion, and the accumulation of wisdom among the two accumulations, and the inconceivable nature of phenomena, these are the uncommon views of the Great Vehicle. Therefore, this is also a passage that has differences in view. Therefore, according to the Madhyamika's own system, although the three vehicles are the same in realizing non-self, the difference lies in whether or not they realize freedom from elaboration, the two accumulations, the nature of phenomena, and the ultimate reality. This is clear in all Madhyamika treatises. Moreover, on this point, the views of Nagarjuna and his son, and the Protector Maitreya, seem to be completely consistent. The Commentary on the Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds says: In order to clearly explain the non-self of phenomena, it is also reasonable to teach the Great Vehicle, because it is intended to explain in detail. The Hearer Vehicle only briefly summarizes the non-self of phenomena. The meaning of this is the same as what I said before, because negating the first extreme is concise, while negating all four extremes is detailed. Some people explain the meaning of this passage as the object to be proven is only emptiness, which is empty of truth, and the detailed or concise reasoning of the proof is the difference between the sharp or dull faculties of the Great and Small Vehicles. This must be considered a reversal of the Great and Small Vehicles, because realizing the same object to be proven through a concise proof is sharp faculties, while needing a detailed proof is dull faculties. If there is no fault, because realizing through detailed reasoning is more powerful in abandoning what is to be abandoned, then, for the same clinging to reality that is to be abandoned, the Hearers, through rapid diligence, can abandon it in three lifetimes,
