Always abiding in function. Like this, irrational thoughts appear as one. Regarding its recognition, the Ratnagotravibhāga states: "The conceptualization of the three wheels is considered the obscuration of knowledge." Therefore, it is said to be the obscuration of knowledge. Such an obscuration of knowledge, until the view of Madhyamaka is generated in the mind, is merely the clinging to reality, which grasps things as real. After the view of Madhyamaka is generated in the mind, until the path of seeing is attained, if there is attachment to external objects, it is the conceptualization of the grasped object. If there is attachment to the object-possessor, it is the conceptualization of the imputation of belief and attention. Once the path of seeing that realizes the absence of self-nature of phenomena is generated, it is the conceptualization of the grasped object without clinging to reality, and the conceptualization of the imputation of suchness and attention. Therefore, the obscuration of knowledge has two types: clinging to reality and non-clinging to reality. The former is the cause of ignorance, which is included in the twelve links, and is therefore called affliction. The latter is also called affliction due to the strong attachment to external objects. As it is said: "The afflictions of Bodhisattvas are conceptual thoughts." In Nāgārjuna's treatises, it is not seen that the clinging to reality of phenomena is said to be affliction. Āryadeva said that the clinging to reality that grasps phenomena as real is said to be ignorant of afflictions, which is in accordance with the Pudgalavada school. Otherwise, it is difficult to conform to Nāgārjuna's view. If it is the self-grasping of phenomena, then it is not pervaded by the clinging to reality, which can be understood by referring to the previous text, and will also be explained below. Therefore, the clinging to reality is pervaded by the afflictive obscuration, which is not the view of both Nāgārjuna and Maitreya. Regarding the recognition of the two selves, the teacher Lekdenjé said that the mind's consciousness is considered the basis of imputation of the self, but it is not considered "self" and "person," because when consciousness is divided into phenomena and person, consciousness is considered phenomena. In the Blaze of Reasoning, it is said: "Thus, we also nominally directly apply the word 'self' to consciousness. Thus, consciousness is the self that takes rebirth, in order to approach the collection of body and senses." Thus it is said. Self-grasping

Although the tenet of the Prasangika Madhyamaka school is that the object of the innate ego-grasping, the mere "I" that exists nominally, is such, it is very unreasonable to think that the mere "I" exists nominally even though it is not found to be either the same as or different from the aggregates when searching for whether it is established as one or the other. Because when searching in this way, even the mere "I" must be eliminated. Some people strive to refute the mere "I" that exists nominally in the Prasangika Madhyamaka school, either by refuting it with reasons accepted by others, or simply because they have not seen the root text and commentary of the Madhyamakavatara. As it is said: "Likewise, relying on the aggregates that are renowned in the world, and the elements and likewise the six sense sources, I am also considered to be the taker." And in its commentary: "I am also considered to be the taker like a chariot in the conventional truth, in order not to prevent the common parlance of the world." Please contemplate the meaning of what is said. Before the venerable omniscient one, it was also said: "Chandrakirti's view is that, relying on the aggregates, the object of the innate ego-grasping, which grasps as 'I' without a basis, is the mere 'I' that exists nominally." It is also very clear in the root text and commentary of the Madhyamakavatara, so I will not strive to refute it. That mere "I" is also the agent and the experiencer of karmic results in name only. Because this tenet is established by the appearance of the mind that is the object of its own conventionality. Because it appears to the minds of worldly people that I have done the action, I experience the result, so the mere "I" appears as the agent and the experiencer of karmic results. So, are the agent and the experiencer of karmic results the same or different? Are they permanent or impermanent? Are they real or unreal? If you analyze, none of these can be established. Therefore, when analyzing in this way, not finding the mere "I" means that the self is not established as being able to be analyzed by reason. When others analyze in that way, if they accept the mere "I", then they cannot go beyond accepting that the self can be analyzed by reason. As it is said in the commentary on the Madhyamakavatara: "The establishment of action and agent here should also be accepted like a chariot. The taker is the action, this is the agent. The so-called taker is the aggregates and so on are the action."
