. It cannot be spoken of and cannot be seen. Thus, all the lands of the Buddha's sons, Although they cannot be spoken of, how can they be heard? Thus it is said. Secondly, there are ten grounds from the first ground, Joyful Ground, to the tenth ground, Cloud of Dharma. The first has three: The first immaculate wisdom is shown as the Joyful Ground. The qualities of the Joyful Ground are explained in detail. The qualities are summarized and shown through examples. The first is: "Son of the Victorious One," etc. The first two lines of the verse show the samadhi held by immaculate wisdom, compassion, etc. The latter two lines are the aspiration to merge into the ten great aspirations of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva and the countless hundreds of thousands of aspirations, and to show the subsequent attainment of the joy that arises upon attaining that ground. That subsequent attainment symbolizes the previous samadhi itself as the first ground, so when classifying the rains, the name "ground" is obtained, and the fruit of the cause of that non-dual wisdom is shown to be near, and it is called the first ground. Thus it is said. Secondly, there are two: Praising the abiding on the ground. Explaining the qualities of the superior paramitas. The first has four: The merit of changing the name. The merit of obtaining meaning. The merit of showing by example. The merit of subduing others. The first is: "From then on," etc. There are two ways to apply the term Bodhisattva: through conduct and through view. The first is in the Bodhicaryāvatāra: "Once the mind of enlightenment has arisen, in an instant, those who are bound in the prison of samsara are called sons of the Sugatas, and are to be worshiped by the world with gods and men." Thus it is said, from the path of accumulation. The second is: In the Twenty-Five Hundred Mother Bhagavati: "The name Bodhisattva is a term of respect for the Bodhisattva who realizes, that is, the one who realizes and knows all dharmas." How does he know? That which has not arisen, that which has not truly arisen, and that which is wrong, and those things are not as children individually interpret them, nor are they as children individually find them, therefore Bodhisattva.

Thus it was said, as it is said in the Uttaratantra, that a Buddha's son is born from four dharmas, and here it is also said that a victor's son is born from three dharmas, as such, he is born from the path of seeing. Here, it is spoken of in terms of the later stage. The commentary says, "One who has attained this mind, at all times, is only referred to by the name Bodhisattva, having transcended the state of an ordinary being, and should not be referred to by any other name, because at that time he is already a noble one." Some say, "The Bodhisattva that is spoken of refers to the ultimate Bodhisattva, and it is not saying that ordinary beings do not have the nature of a Bodhisattva." This is not reasonable, although it is said that there are the names of conventional bodhicitta and ultimate bodhicitta for the generation of bodhicitta, but there is no such name for Bodhisattva. If asked, how should one interpret the quote from the Ratnamegha Sutra in the commentary, "The ground of the ultimate Bodhisattva has not yet been attained"? The answer is: at that time, it is the quality of the ultimate ground, not the quality of the Bodhisattva, such as "the Bodhisattva ground included by meditative equipoise," and so on. Secondly, there are four: the qualities of being born into the lineage, the qualities of the ability to abandon and realize, the qualities of surpassing the higher, and the qualities of transcending the lower. The first is "This is as such," and so on. The second is "By this, one can pervade," and so on. The third is "From ground surpassing ground," and so on. The fourth is "At that time, this one," and so on. The third is "This is a noble one," and so on. In the sutras and treatises, it is said that the stream-enterer is the eighth ground, and its direct realization is the eighth ground, but here it is said that the stream-enterer is the eighth ground, which is in terms of the sequential enumeration from "the arhat path and fruition" to "the stream-enterer path and fruition." As it is said in the Compendium of Sutras, "If one were to offer a hundred flavors of divine food and divine clothing every day for as many eons as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River to each grain of dust in all the realms of the world that follow with faith, it would not be as great as offering one meal a day to one who follows the Dharma, the merit generated by the latter is even greater." And as said before, if one were to offer food to a follower of the Dharma,
